Patriots QB Tom Brady reached out to his former teammate, Donte' Stallworth, on the day the receiver killed 59-year-old Mario Reyes while driving drunk in Miami last year.

Stallworth revealed to's Peter King that he received a text message from Brady, his teammate in 2007 with the Patriots, on March 14, 2009, the day of the accident. It read:

"A lot of people know the kind of person you are. You're a good person."

Stallworth later pleaded guilty to DUI manslaughter and served 24 days in jail. He also paid an undisclosed settlement to the victim's family and is serving other restrictions that include eight years probation.

Stallworth, who signed with the Ravens in February after serving a suspension in the 2009 season, said last week that he thinks about the accident every day. He revealed more about he tragedy to King, including telling him that he had returned home from a night of partying before leaving his house again to get food. That's when he said he struck Reyes. -- Sean Leahy
