Default Compare / Contrast each Pacer to get a sense of height/size

I thought this might be interesting to look at. I scanned this part of a poster that was handed out on the night of the last home game.

*edit* As you will read below, it appears Tyler was photographed separately and then digitally inserted into the group shot, so comparing him to the others is worthless due to scale concerns.

Personally, this photo challenged some of my perceptions of the players' sizes.

If anyone wants a closer look (and still high res) of a smaller group of the players, just ask. I figured people might want a closer look at the bigs more than anyone else, so I'll go ahead and get that up soon.

So, of available players, Roy should have been the starting center and McRoberts should have been the power forward as well as backing up Roy at center, with Dunleavy, Murphy, and Danny dividing time at the 3 with Murphy backing Josh up at the 4 and Granger primarily playing as a 2 / 3 combo.

We really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really need a different coach really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really soon.

Murphy is a lot closer to 6'9" (around what he was measured out at the combine) than he is 6'11". This photo shows that his 6'11" and Foster's 6'11" aren't exactly the same thing.

The more I look at it, the more I think you're right.

Well, that blows. He was the one I most wanted to compare/contrast with the others.

Still, while less interesting, we can look at the rest of them.

Ah . . . why would Hans be photoshopped? And if he was, then why can we trust the rest of them?

I wish the NBA still measured players at camp each year like they used to!

EDIT: His neck does look pretty looonnng in that picture.

EDIT2: I just Goggled him and he just has a long neck.

I'd say he is for sure, the light source is different, it's from the side, not the top.

I just talked with Gnome, and he was saying that a Pacers person on Twitter might have mentioned that Tyler was photoshopped into the picture.

Neck height would have nothing to do with that; its' a real photo of the guy.

The problem is he could easily be placed in there with his image being the wrong size relative to the rest of the players.

I'm guessing his photo is slightly enlarged because he doesn't look that big next to them in person.

How the crap can this topic be turned to how our coach sucks?

Anyway. Solomon Jones looks like he is smaller than Granger. And Dunleavy is 6'9".

It may make A LITTLE BIT OF DIFFERENCE ( probably not much ) but it appears that they are not lined up in a straight line....they appear to be lined in a slight curve. You can notice it when you compare the arrangement of the seats to the Pacer logo. I assume that the Players would be arranged similiarly. I'm guessing here....but as the Players stand further away from the Center ( Hibbert ), the closer they are to the Camera.

This is David West, he is the Honey Badger, West just doesn't give a *****....he's pretty bad *ss cuz he has no regard for any other Player or Team whatsoever.

Photos are extremely misleading, differences in posture and angles make a huge difference. Anyway, you don't need them to compare most players:

    Troy Murphy
    height w/o shoes: 6' 9.75"
    height w/ shoes: 6' 11"

    Josh McRoberts:
    height w/o shoes: 6' 8.75"
    height w/ shoes: 6' 10"

    Solomon Jones
    height w/o shoes: 6' 8.5"
    height w/ shoes: 6' 9.75"

    Tyler Hansbrough:
    height w/o shoes: 6' 8.25"
    height w/ shoes: 6' 9.5"

    Mike Dunleavy
    height w/o shoes: 6' 8"
    height w/ shoes: 6' 9.5"

    Danny Granger:
    height w/o shoes: 6' 7.5"
    height w/ shoes: 6' 8.5"

Hibbert and Foster weren't measured at the NBA combine.

Oh WTH... I'm just going say it because I think it's funny regardless if anyone else does...

There's no truth to the rumor that O'Brien pleaded with the photographer to have the coaches and team circled behind the 3 Point line instead of surrounding the center court logo ....

More confirmation that Rush is noticeably taller than DJones, even though they are both listed at 6-6.

That is a very, very strange picture.

It's the only time our team was ever on the same page.....

Proof that Brandon Rush is better than any Pacer at spacing the court....

Again, AJ is barely in the team's picture.....

O'Brien wanted to be closer to Murphy but that would've put both of them too close to the D.....

O'Brien kicked Diener out of the picture...

    Head Rush...

The only time in the first half of the season that McRoberts got off the bench...

Yea, I think without question the rookies are photoshopped, and I'd question Foster at least.
