We got our tickets for our Indians package again this year. We had an absolute blast year.

On a side note, who had Volquez in the pool as the first major leaguer to ge bounced for PED's this season?

We are looking forward to going to the Padres AA team again this season. It is always a fun time. What makes it neat is that my brother lives in Ft. Wayne where one of their A teams is located. He tells me who is coming up that is good. We also catch the Astros AA team in Corpus. Very nice stadium there.

The Reds are amazing this year! They have some issues with their bullpen, however, but it will all work out. The recent crop of farm players (pun intended) have really shown that they can produce. Jocketty has resurrected this franchise from the dead.

I may actually be giving up on this season earlier than I did last season.

Yep. They've had a pretty damn good last two weeks. Hopefully they can keep it up the rest of the season.

It looks like it's going to be a 3 team race between Boston, The Rays, and my Yanks for that division. Yanks won a nice doubleheader yesterday with the greatest closer of all time getting saves in both games.

Have you ever gone down to Louisville to see a Bats game?

I do too. This looks like the team Theo wanted by design but with additional hitting because the offense has been very good. Adam1987...the Yankees? I am disappointed...but we all need a rival. The Yanks have had our number so far (And I am sickened by it) but hopefully we just wanted to try out their formula for 2009.

Haha. Yeah, you all owned us last year at the beginning of the year, then we got hot down the stretch and owned you in July, August and Sept.

I've been amazed at how well Andy Pettitte has been pitching this year. If he keeps this up, he could be in CY Young contention.

Mark Teixera needs to get it together. He's about to fall below the Mendoza line.

Pettite is pitching very well...but IMO Hughes has been stellar! I was watching the Yanks last night and they are playing well. Mark T has been the Yanks version of Big Papi. He is off to a slow start but he will get it turned around and it should be interesting between the Yanks and Sox later this year...with the Sox returning the favor of course!

Unlike Papi, Tex can be useful even when his bat isn't.

True, he's a great 1st baseman. He'll turn the batting average around eventually you'd think, though a .208 average 2 months in is a bit alarming. I think this years Yankee team will be a lot like last years - that is they'll get red hot after the all star break.

I can't disagree there. That's why Tex makes the big bucks but I would have to think his hitting is a bit of sore point for them.

He's a notoriously slow starter in April, but usually gets his act together in May. He did just that, going on a 22-66 swing to start the month. But he followed that with an awful 1-20 streak over a 5 games stretch. That all translates to a poor .210 average. When all is said and done though, I think he'll have an average in the high 200's along with his usual power numbers.

Wow, what a horrible call in Detroit. That kid should have had a perfect game. That would have been 3 perfect games in the first 2 months of the season - absolutely insane.

I agree. What makes the call so horrible is that it was a routine play that always results in an out. I mean the ball was hit hard enough that the runner simply did not have enough time to beat the throw. Whenever a ball is hit like that towards the first base side, it is an out. Maybe if the ball was hit slowly to allow the runner time, I could see a safe call.

To that kid's credit, he handled the blown call with more grace than about 99% of people would have. I mean the guy isn't a superstar. You just took away what will undoubtedly be the highlight of his career, and what would have been the only perfect game in a very long Detroit Tigers history. And how did he react? Basically he said about the ump "Stuff happens, nobody is perfect". How many of us would have done the same?

Not very many, that's for sure. I know I would've blown a gasket.

I apologize for the thread in the other forum, I forgot about this forum.

I really do hope they overturn the call.

As for the pitcher, he showed what a class act he was. By all accounts he was furious after the game (which was understandable) but after the ump called him and apologized he said there was no way he could be mad at him.

Considering it was the last out, I hope baseball overturns the ball.

With that said, both the pitcher and the ump should be celebrated for how they handled it afterwards. That's the type of characteristics that baseball should celebrate. Human error is part of the game. Pitchers throw wild pitches, batters swing at balls, fielders either boot a grounder or drop a fly ball. It's part of the game. Unfortunately, when umps make a mistake it changes what happens between the players. Mr. Joyce being a man and stepping up and admitting his mistake shows a lot of class.

Just another reason why I do not care for baseball.

A horrible decision by Mr. Selig
