Thread: Should the Pacers fill their roster spot?

Default Should the Pacers fill their roster spot?

With us at 14 players (since Diener was waived and went to Portland), I was talking to a co-worker who asked me if I thought the Pacers would sign another player for the last month of the season. Any thoughts?

Looks like a guy like Danny Green in Cleveland may be waived next week when Z comes back. Any interest in signing a guy like him or giving a guy from the D-League like Rod Benson or Morris Almond a shot?

I think it would be a low risk/high reward possibility. We could sign a guy to a 10 day contract and he could come in for cheap and maybe help bolster our bench down the road.

Seems like a waste of money to me.

I'd advocate for us calling up a guy from the D-League for a 10 day deal. It wouldn't cost us hardly anything and we may be able to land a potential bench player for the future for cheap.

If it doesn't work out, the Pacers are out what, 10k? Surely they saved that from buying out Diener and then some.

I'm not sure what the point would be. We can't get O'Brien to regularly let our own bench players play without injury so I don't see a guy who has never practiced with the team be anything other than just sitting on the bench. If that is the case then I agree it seems a waste of money.

If we had a different coach it would make a ton of sense. But we don't. Another thing I don't understand is how a team as bad as we are, is NOT using the Dleague team as a tool to improve. Just doesn't make a lick of sense. But of course, I am not the owner.

It seems like Luther isn't on the team anymore. He's a good shooter and deserves time with Danny out.

Unless someone becomes available that you really just can't pass up, I don't see it happening.

Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

He was starting to make allot of stupid mistakes (TJ like)... so I'd much rather them play AJ than Head any day... same goes with D. Jones at SG over Head... just to many players that should be playing before Head in my opinion.

Who is actually gone from this team at the end of the season? Watson, Head, any others?

Current FA: Watson & Head. Josh has a team option.

I don't expect Ford, Foster, Murphy and maybe Rush & Dunleavy to be on the roster in November (in addition to Head & Watson).

I just don't think it makes much sense with JOB as the coach.

That said, I would like to see M.Almond here. Bird liked him out of colege, & he is a shooter, but w/ us playing 2 PG so much, I don't see the point.

Have a drawing for people over 50. You must be at the game to be eligible. Draw a name and sign the guy to a 10 day contract. Then play him as much as possible for those 10 games. OB could do the "Hoosiers" routine, "My team's on the floor".

    Is Larry Legend over 50?

Only 15 or less games to go and already out of the playoffs? No way.
