Default Chad Ford chats about draft

I posted this on the NBA recruiting thread but I know that no everybody pays attention to that(to long) here are some of the Chad for post and what does he think about the players that are going to be drafted and in this case the pacers

    http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/chat/_/id/31389

Better fit for the Pacers, Turner or Favors/Cousins.

    Chad Ford (1:24 PM)

Pacers would go with Turner at No. 2 and Favors at No. 3. Cousins is a bit of a risk for them.

    JD (VA)

Everyone talks about how majority of the lottery teams would take Wall in a heartbeat. My question is, which lottery team would be the best fit for Wall?

    Chad Ford (1:29 PM)

Pacers. Desperately need a point guard. He'd be great in Jim O'Brien's run and gun system. Put him on the floor with Danny Granger and suddenly the Pacers are back in business. Then, in 2011, when they have a ton of cap space, they should be able to lure another decent free agent

I do agree with Ford. A really good high quality point guard would change the outlook of this team immediately

The 2010 draft will be the most impactful night the Pacers have seen since November 19th, 2004. It's one of the few things worth talking about.

Heck the draft lottery is going to be impactful in its own right. Top 4 pick, and I am tickled to death. If we are in the 5-10 range...****. I trust TPTB to get it right with the obvious top 4, but past that...meh.

I think it's fairly accurate to say that the lottery will be the most exciting day for me as a Pacer fan since the 2005 playoffs.

yeah I feel the same way, lest hope that Larry makes some good decisions

First we need to secure the 4th worst record, because I'm really worried that the Wizards could overtake us soon. That trade with the Mavs has put them over the edge in terms of terrible basketball.

Well, let's take a peek at the white board in Larry's office ..................

    Luke Harangody.
    Chris Kramer.
    Cole Aldrich.

I don't think Gordon Hayward or Matt Howard are entering the draft.

I'm sure at least one of those will be there at 2, 3 or 4.

They already have. We both have 21 wins. So ask yourself which team will have the most wins from this point. Plus we have two games against them. I think right now the best we can hope for is 5th.

To be fair, a really good high quality point guard would change the outlook of any team immediately.

I think starting Price and him playing starter minutes would change the team immediately.

The only decision Larry needs to make at the lottery is whether or not to pick his nose. It is all in the lotto balls, not much decision on chance.

But I understand you meant the draft.

I think you've got expectations that are way too high.

For example, I doubt the drafting of a guy like Patterson or Aldrich will have nearly the impact you describe.

    Shawne#4-

In a word, when it comes to finishing with a bottom-4 record,
    you can fugghedaboudit !

The win vs Charlotte tonight pretty much ended that dream.

At this point, they'll (or we'll) be lucky if they're any better (or
    worse) than 7th worst.

Or at least since Stanko joined PD.

These are the guys I'm sure Bird drafted.

    Hansborough
    Price
    Hibbert
    Rush
    White
Williams.......a 5:1 ratio, and Hansbrough is better than 3, IMO.

I think he has selected who he thought was best.

    Forgot Lorbek and Stanko.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

It's up for debate that Bird selected Granger and Lorbek.

If he did, it's still 3:1. Hansbrough being better than 4.

Stanko was traded for with a 2009 2nd rounder. Not drafted

Besides, Bird might have had some(little) expectations for Stanko, but mostly he and Lorbek were safe choices that a team with many bad contracts didn't have to pay if they turned out to be the bums that they are.

Stanko and Lorbek are from Europe. Europeans tend to be pink instead mocha anyway.

Give up on the ratio. It doesn't help you.

    These straws... I grasp them.

Lorbek maybe, but Bird went out of his way to get Stanko.

Ah yes. "He's not white, he's European!" Anybody else remember that?
