Default Should the Pacers play Hansbrough again this season?

I was thinking about it today.. I would like to see him on the floor again. I know they probably evaluate him everyday but still..

It has been a long time now and its getting to a point where you have to wonder..

Edit : If its a concussion problem then I would lean to keeping him on the bench but if its just vertigo then maybe him being out there will somehow help.

I'd love to see it and think another month of NBA experience would be great heading into next season, but at this point I think the chances are under 5% that he plays again this season.

Not unless he is 100%...and it sounds like he's not going to be anytime soon.

If he is ever healthy enough why not play him. It is not like he is going to lose a year of eligiblity if he is played. But will he ever be healthy enough to play? He is the biggest mystery this year. Inner Ear infection-post concusion syndrome. I am sure he wants to play.

Question, is this his first concusion? If so, I hope he doesn't get anymore because they just get worse each time. I'm glad he isn't on the colts and taking hits every play.

I think he had 2 minor concussions while at UNC.. I dont remember him missing a game because of one though.

You mention football.. I remember Bledsoe playing most of the 2003 season ( I think it was 03 ) with a concussion and it wasnt pretty.

Play him if he can get clearance, it could be a nice test to see if he can come back without another flair up.

Why risk it? He doesn't even have any conditioning at this point, and we have one month to go. He can't even work out yet as far as I know, let alone practice. He can't be expected to play at this point IMO.

Tyler is done for the season. There is no point in putting a guy out there that will not be in game shape. That is just asking for another injury to happen. Just keep him shut down for the year, hit the off season workouts, and get ready for the next season. Given his style of play, plus the lack of game conditioning, and the injury being centered around the concussion it is probably better to go with the more conservative approach when dealing with this.

Without being in game condition I'd expect there'd be increased risk of another injury. Nope.

Just because you can write that way doesn't mean he can play that way.

Wells says Tyler is out for the season. It was pretty much assumed, but has the team made an official announcement?

    Hibbert, Hansbrough to make appearance

Pacers rookie Tyler Hansbrough, who is out the rest of the season with an inner ear infection, and center Roy Hibbert will be signing autographs and taking photographs with fans at Indiana Live! Casino in Shelbyville on Thursday from 7-8 p.m.

No. I think Wells is just treating Obie's comments of a couple of weeks ago as the official announcement, and I would guess that he's been told not to expect him back this season.

I don't know that this is the type of thing they'd make an official announcement about. I'm sure they're assuming it to be true, but it's not like they'd have to put him on an NFL-Style I/R. They can leave it a somewhat open issue to no effect one way or the other.

I don't think the Pacers have the option of playing Tyler. As far as we know, he hasn't yet practiced.

    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. I think this is probably true. I was merely commenting that they don't have any compelling reason to issue a press release saying, "Tyler's done for the season."

Yeah, it just seemed kind of funny to me that he slipped that into a personal appearance promo when it's never been really acknowledged anywhere else.

I agree that it was a little startling in such matter-of-fact terms in agate, but I kind of took in an "oh, we're going to start openly acknowledging Uncle Manny is gay" kind of way. Everybody knew, or at least suspected, and there wasn't any reason to make a big deal about it.

Sure, I'm with that. I wasn't disagreeing with you, actually, I was disagreeing with the title of the thread. Sorry about the confusion.

If he can help the team lose games and it doesnt affect him detrimentally in the long term, then by all means, play him. If not, let him recover.

Guys, we haven't even heard anything definite that he'll play again NEXT year. Let's not put the cart before the horse.

    Exactly.

It's not like Hansbrough is just some waiftard hanging around the gym asking for a chance to play. He's a serious prospect who's career is in jeopardy. We need to be patient.

I am just curious, how is his career be in jeopardy? Having it be a consistent problem with no medical cure? I am just so dumbfounded by the whole thing. I want him to get better and get his butt on the court, which I am sure he thinks about everyday.

There was a brief, and very decisive, and altogether unprecedented, outburst of genuine officiating, and it was directed at the best player in the world, and that, my dear young person, simply is not done."

Did anyone else hear his interview on 1070 the Fan today w/ Eddie White?
Edtardo asked Han's about his "2nd injury", & Han's skirted answering it big time. He said eddie would have to "ask the Pacers medical personell for any details" and immediately went on to talking about his desire to help the club in the future. He refused to say anything related to "ear infection", "PCS" or "vertigo". The response was very scriplted, cold & kinda uncomfortable. It truely sounded like someone hiding something. Very weird.
