From Twitter tonight...
dukedynamite: "I'm paying in full Tuesday for my @indianapacers season tickets. ONLY if I am told that O'Brien is gone next season."
Then I came back with this:
@El_Peckbo Well, I'm just going to cower and do it anyway, but this team isn't going anywhere. I don't feel like spending all the money...
Well, this thread died incredibly fast.
Thinking hard about it, trust me...I've put it off for two weeks. I really don't think it's going to take one or two season ticket holders to send a message. Especially that one.
I think the majority of the season ticket holders will do what they do, renew, just to have something to occupy their time with. The majority of the people left that are young people, like you and I that have the least expensive packages...whether they are full, mini, or half will either come along anew, or existing ones will renew.
Basically what I am saying is what they lose they gain. It won't necessarily recoup all the way, but chances are good that someone new gets a seat near or next to yours...if not yours next season.
Even if I use JOB as my excuse, it won't be the real reason... the real reason is not having the money and the price upgrades moved it out of my range. I would definitely renew if I could afford them for next season.
As a fan who doesn't sit within earshot from Bird/Job, this is the only way I would have to voice my opinion about what's going on with the team.
What salvo did Seth fire?
I absolutely REFUSE to buy season tickets to see the team I love ... until I move back.

Let me spin it positive.
I'm already NOT a season ticket holder as far as I'm concerned.
But if they make the right move they can ADD me as a season ticket holder (well, HSTH, I'm not made of money).
I've told my ticket person most of this season if JOB is back, I won't be. I know for a fact that at least 25 accounts have told them the same thing.
I still haven't decided if I really mean it though. The season ticket renew packet is setting on my kitchen table waiting. It's a lot of money to watch in person when I can be sick to my stomach at home for free.
"Just look at the flowers ........ BANG"
I wish I had the time to go to all of the games. I have a 7 year old and a 4 year old, and I work for the government, so I work all sorts of weird hours. But even if I had the time and money for tickets I would want to see what happens this summer, before I put down all of the cash for tickets.
If the team losing doesn't bother you, why then is your reason for not renewing your season tickets?
I don't live in Indy nor the surrounding area. Thus, I'm not a season ticket holder. About the best I can do is renew my NBA-LP subscription next year (had to drop it the rest of the season...long story). I guess like cj7, I'm giving it careful consideration. I mean, what sense does it make to shell out the money for a team that continues to under-perform this way? Besides, I heard about JOB's "irrelevant" comment about McRoberts and thought just as Kravitz did, "WHAT!?!" Not only did he throw McRoberts under the bus, he put it in reverse and backed the dang thing over him. I know emotions can run high, but you never put a player down when he has performed well even in a losing effort. That was totally uncalled for. But we can save that discussion for the appropriate thread.
As for the focus of this one, I'll wait until pre-season and decide what I'll do. Hopefully, the team makes some good moves to give me reason to renew. Otherwise, I'll save the money and just follow them online when I can.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you
You could "sponsor" a local fan via season tickets. Maybe give X tickets per season to Y amount of fans?
What's the advantage for those who renew early for next season?
Wasn't last year an outing with the team?
