    Default Colts release Sorgi

I can't find a link. I just saw it on the crawl on NFL Network.

Yikes... that means Curtis Painter is the backup for the time being. Here's to hoping they sign another backup soon.

The reason might be the $275,000 roster bonus the Colts would have owed Sorgi on the fifth day of the league year, which began today. Sorgi, who backed up starter Peyton Manning the past six seasons, was due to earn $1.08 million in 2010.
I didn't think he made 25K a year or anything, but wow! Good riddance.

I wonder if the Colts try to find a veteran backup or if we draft another guy in the draft?

I know about the contract ordeal about Sorgi and how much he's getting paid, but man, he's better than that Painter kid lol. I would rather have Sorgi instead of Painter backing up Peyton, but that's just my opinion...

Good riddance, you bum piece of poo.
"I keep wondering the same thing. Last week they had the 4th worst record in the league, had an 11.9 percent chance of winning the lottery and were in line to land a franchise type player like Derrick Favors or DeMarcus Cousins. This week? They have a 1.7 percent chance of winning the lottery, have the 8th worst record and are in line to draft Cole Aldrich or Greg Monroe. Way to go Jim O'Brien. Rest Danny Granger the rest of the season (if it isn't too late) and give Josh McRoberts lots of minutes. That ought to do it." - Chad Ford on winning meaningless games

Way to go Jim, you may have just put our franchise back another 4+ years.

    Really ?? No, REALLY ??

If #18 goes out for any significant stretch, Sorgi and Painter aren't going to save this team. Getting rid of Sorgi was strictly a financial move. Painter is cheaper and brings the same thing to the table as Sorgi did. That being not much/enough.

It'll be interesting if they bring Sorgi back... I mean purely from the standpoint that he does know the offense and he runs the scout team.

NY Giants to work out former Indianapolis Colts backup quarterback Jim Sorgi
    By Mike Garafolo/The Star-Ledger

Jim Sorgi Peyton Manning ColtsRobert Laberge/Getty ImagesFormer Colts quarterback Jim Sorgi will visit the Giants on Monday. 6:34 p.m. UPDATE Sorgi's agent, Matt Brei, confirmed the workout via his Twitter account.

The backup for one Manning will now audition to be a reserve for another.

Former Colts quarterback Jim Sorgi has scheduled a visit with the Giants Monday, according to someone informed of the meeting. The person requested anonymity because the team doesn't comment on workouts.

The Giants are looking for a potential replacement for David Carr, who met with the 49ers this weekend and appeared headed to San Francisco Saturday. As of Sunday, there was no official word of a contract being finalized.

Sorgi, a sixth-round pick of the Colts in 2004, appeared in 16 games with Indianapolis over the past six seasons. He completed 99 of 156 passes for 929 yards, six touchdowns and one interception. Last December, Sorgi was placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, which allowed Curtis Painter to step in - to the delight of the Jets, of course.

Obviously, he made no starts, as Peyton Manning hasn't missed a game since entering the NFL in 1998. Eli Manning also has an impressive consecutive games streak going, as he's started all 97 regular-season games (plus seven postseason games) since taking over for Kurt Warner in 2004.

Well, if he signs with the Giants, he'll make quite the living sucking off the Manning teat.

I should be so lucky .......................

Painter has much more talent than Sorgi. Painter is actually blessed with some quickness and has a strong arm, Painter has neither.

As for Painter sucks, is he good? No, but how many rookie QB's succeed against the NFL's #1 defense with backup lineman and receivers against starters, while also trying to protect an undefeated season? Even Peyton as a rookie, probably doesn't.

It's not like it matters though anyways, if Peyton goes down for a significant period, we're screwed.

Larry is not coming back, he didn't have a meeting with Orlando for not reason, yeah he is coming back to the NBA but not to the Pacers, the notion that he is a taking a year off and then come back is absurd.

    The Sorgi era is over.

Reminds me of the sad end to the Bruno Sundov era for the Pacers.
