This is getting more weird all the time. Next his ear infection will be the cause oh his groin injury.

Yeah. And then his groin injury would be the cause of his diminished libido. No, wait, that would make sense.

Don't you have to have a concussion to get post concussion syndrome?

The brute force hits in football can cause concussions due to the jostling of the brain inside the skull despite the protection afforded by helmets.

In basketball, the dangers come from different types of impacts like being knocked to the floor, and either hitting your head on the floor directly or simply being jarred significantly by the impact that sent you to the floor, often repeatedly during the same game the way Tyler plays, being knocked in the head by flying elbows and forearms as Tyler frequently has been due to the way he plays, or the type of flagrant hit that we know he took from Henderson (?) in college that led to his famous bloody nose pictures, and I am sure that he has had that happen at other points as well due to the way he plays.

This diagnosis really is not surprising when you look at it this way, and it may not bode well for him due to its cumulative nature. I feel really bad for him at this point because this has to be particularly upsetting for him as a highly motivated fiery competitor.

If I was playing blackjack and had an 11 with my first 2 cards, in most cases I'd double my bet when the dealer got back to me... and the dealer would then give me ONE more card. If I hadn't doubled down I could keep taking cards until I stood or busted (went over 21). But with a double-down, you get ONE card. But the thinking is with an 11 you CAN'T bust and there are so many face cards and 10's in the shoe that you could end up with 21 on that one card.

Then at worst you tie the dealer... and the dealer must get 21 to do that. ...And the dealer must stop at 17 (can't keep trying to make 21 once the dealer reaches 17 or higher).

Of course when I double down I get a 2 or Ace EVERY time. So then I have to hope the dealer busts....

Now, as to what the OP meant in the context of this thread... I have no idea...

    That's my question.

Is this concussion a symptom of his ear infection? Is it a result of a one time instance of contact (I can't recall any)? Is it a result of the CUMULATIVE amount of hits he's taken from his physical style of play?

I feel bad for the guy.

Actually, we had somebody who was supposedly in the know that said Tinsley's early "sinus infections" were actually really bad hemorrhoids. Later, of course, they used sinusitis to cover behavioral problems, but that didn't appear to be the case the entire time.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

Just curious, what does that mean in terms of his contract? Does he still get paid the same amount if he is out for the season with an injury?

Inquiring minds want to know. I don't recall him having any "serious" contact at anytime. If you ask me, it sounds like some .

As I understand it, PCS could've been something he brought from his North Carolina (or HS) days. That's when the concussion... or concussions could've happened that brought on it's onset. It could be something he deals with the rest of his career. It could shorten his career. The rigors of an NBA schedule may trigger things that the shorter college schedule, game length, and reduced physical level allowed him to get thru.

    LOL to add on...

maybe after getting the inner ear infection from listening to the JOB BS, it got to him so bad he banged his head on something repeatedly in disgust ...

    ya that's a good possibility..

    LMAO

sorry , just tryin to lighten the mood... I know stuff like this isn't nothin to joke about , but I think by the time next season rolls around, Tyler will at least by healthy .... Here's hoping and praying...

Plumlee reminds me of a young Dale Davis. Good rebounding and he contests shots well on defense and his offensive game is very raw just like DD's was coming out of college.

I fell in October and hit my head. To make a long story short I too have post concussion syndrome. Two of my symptoms were stabbing pains in my right eye and right ear. My doctor said it usually takes a couple months for symptoms to resolve. When they didn't she sent me to a neurologist. I'm doing better, but even if I was physically inclined to do so I don't think I'd be able to play professional basketball yet.

I'm curious as to when he got a concussion in the first place. The guy has been out for the last 2 months....which suggests that he got it when he was playing. Maybe it's my lack of watching a lot of football or any serious accidents that happen....so it maybe harder for me to identify when it happens.....but I thought that when you get a concussion...that it's a result of some trauma to the head. Unless it happened during practice or off-the-court.....I don't even recall him getting hit in the head during a game so severely that he ( much less us ) wouldn't have noticed it.

this revelation gives credence to a post someone had a couple days ago (not a regular poster as I recall) that there was a medical issue with Tyler that was not disclosed/revealed in the pre-draft reports, and the Pacers were pissed when they found out.

if that is right, this is left over from the NC days, which is not a good sign (ie that the effects of the postconcussion syndrome are 10 months old at the very least)
