I think you have a chance to get a guy at 34 this year who will be a rotation player next year with the structure of this team.
I agree. There's also a good chance now of backing into the mid to late 1st round by getting a pick from a team who doesn't want or need the extra draft choice and the salary requirements (Lakers, Mavericks, Nuggets, Spurs, etc).
As I've said, basing your entire hopes on a game of chance, which is what the stupid draft lottery is, gets you nothing but disappointment.
At best we'll draft where we finish, but luck doesn't run that way for this team.
As a side comment, it seems like there's a lot of people who will never be happy since the only two places out of 30 that make anyone happy are a championship or winning a ping-pong-ball lottery. That makes for 28 teams every year with fans who aren't just disappointed their team didn't do better, they are angry. Some people need to get a reality check.
I don't know. I was pretty happy during the mid 90s and in our one NBA Finals appearance. Yeah you want championships but if we got back to being a high playoff seed again and appearing in a couple of Finals I'd be pretty happy about that. Or if I think we're headed in that direction shortly, I would be happy about that too.
Maybe it's more fair to say that fans are angry when their team is stuck in the middle of those 28 and isn't going in either direction. Late lottery pick, 1st rd exit, etc. for year after year.
