Cleveland. But the Pacers held out for Hickson and TWO picks. Craziness.
No, they didn't. That is what Cleveland offered for Antawn Jamison. We could have offered them Murphy for Z straight up, and Cleveland would have still gone with Jamison.

Gonna need a link on that one. For weeks the word from multiple national and local sources was that the Cavs were ready to trade for Murph but the Pacers were damanding Z, Hickson, and 2 picks.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

espn posted an article about milwaukee a couple weeks back regarding their plans for the summer of '11... One could just insert indiana and pacers everywhere you see milwaukee and bucks... similar plans (nothing this summer other than, hopefully, a good draft pick).

The word was that Cleveland would look to get Murphy if the could not get Jamison or Amare. They got Jamison, so what the Pacers wanted for Murphy was a non issue for the Cavs.

That's what I read. And it seems pretty crazy to me too. I think the Pacers will be extremely lucky to be able to unload Murphy and get under the tax this summer.

Right, due to a last-minute change of heart by Washington. On the run-up to the deadline they were holding fast that they weren't moving Jamison.

We couldn't have moved Troy at the deadline, but we could have a week or two before. We held, hoping his value went up, but we held too long and the bubble burst.

Cleveland wasn't going to trade for Murphy 2 weeks before the trade deadline. They had already made it clear that Troy was their 3rd option, and you don't close on a 3rd option until you a 100% positive options 1 and 2 have no chance.

Look, in a hypothetical world I agree with you, but from every available source that's simply not the way it went down. The Cavs were ready to trade for Murph, but talks fell apart when Indy demanded the moon for a player the Cavs didn't really need that badly.

From what I remember Murphy was discussed before anyone else....... Jamison and others were brought up because Bird wanted more than they wanted to give up.
I'm not perfect and neither are you.

I find that extremely unlikely. Ferry would never trade for Murphy before running out of chances of landing Stoudemire and Jamison (and maybe other players). It wouldn't make any sense for him to trade for Murphy before the last moment he could; it's not like Bird could get a better offer from anyone.

When the press reports that "X is offering z to Y" I wouldn't read there's a firm offer in place. They're just negotiating. How many teams actually do deals 2 or 3 weeks before the trade deadline?
