Default Josh Howard out for the season

BREAKING: Josh Howard out for the season with torn ACL
Tue Feb 23,2010 12:40 PM ET By Matt Moore
JHoward_injured.jpgMike Jones (formerly of the Washington Times Sports) is reporting via Twitter that Flip Saunders has informed him Josh Howard is done for the season after tearing his ACL.

It's a crushing blow for Howard, who recently said he wanted to try and push for the playoffs with a Wizards team that has won two out of three since the massive trades to detonate their core two weeks ago.

Howard was looking forward to a rebirth in Washington, and was playing like a leader, hitting big shots and playing to the potential the Mavericks thought had passed.

Whatever the Wizards have done to offend the Basketball Gods, they are sorry. We're all sorry.

Well, it could be worse, they could...

    Yeah, I got nothing.

This sucks for us, too. Makes it much more likely that the Wiz will contend for a high lottery pick.

Wow, the Washington Wizards are getting the wrath of the basketball gods like they were the Washington Amalakites or something.

That has to suck for Washington. I feel bad for Howard because he was really playing good ball.

Horsefeathers! I'm sorry to year about it for Howard's sake, the Wizards' sake, AND FOR THE PACERS' SAKE.

Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

How about instead of wrath of basketball gods, lets try terrible management. First of all, you give Gilbert the worst contract of all time, then you trade Caron, who is the best contract in the league. You get back Josh Howard and Drew Gooden, two team cancers and Josh has a scary injury and a bad rep in the league.

Then you trade Antawn, who happens to be a fan favorite, for nothing. If you wanted to get rid of his god awful contract, don't sign him to a god awful contract! Now they have to give him away and give a team a chance of a championship.

They also traded Ricky Rubio, a potential star depending on who you talk to, for players on the level of Troy and Mike Dunleavy because they thought that they were magically going to compete for a championship.

"I keep wondering the same thing. Last week they had the 4th worst record in the league, had an 11.9 percent chance of winning the lottery and were in line to land a franchise type player like Derrick Favors or DeMarcus Cousins. This week? They have a 1.7 percent chance of winning the lottery, have the 8th worst record and are in line to draft Cole Aldrich or Greg Monroe. Way to go Jim O'Brien. Rest Danny Granger the rest of the season (if it isn't too late) and give Josh McRoberts lots of minutes. That ought to do it." - Chad Ford on winning meaningless games

Way to go Jim, you may have just put our franchise back another 4+ years.

I was there to see this happen.. and it was terrible. He immediately grabbed towards his knee and you could tell he was in serious pain. He had to be carried to the locker room and he couldn't put any weight on the leg. When he never came back to the bench, you knew it was pretty serious.

The Wizards are just cursed, man. Going all the way back to Gilbert's freak injury when Gerald Wallace fell on his knee. And Caron breaking his hand on the backboard going for a block. Terrible.

damn, ACL injuries are awful, I've seen enough of them to last a lifetime. At this point for a women's basketball player it's sort of expected.
