Although I am not shocked by this I will say that it is a shame that he is leaving the Chargers.

I wonder who he plays for next year? Pats.

I think he'll end up with the Patriots like Gamble stated above.

I wild card team I could see him landing with would be the Houston Texans.

They're an up and coming team that was close to making the playoffs this past season, Tomlinson played his college ball at TCU, so he should be fine playing in Texas, and Slaton also had quite a few fumbling problems for the Texans this past season, so the Texans may want bring in Tomlinson as well

L.T. said he "wants to win a championship" so I don't see him going to a non-contender.

Can he get 1 yard on 3rd and 1? I know a team that could use that...
Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

Unfortunately the Colts problem is not the RB, IMO, its the O-line that generates no push. Hart is just as capable on 3rd and 1.

I think Thomas Jones is probably done with the Jets, and that O-line there is certainly more than capable fo opening lanes for LT. Shonn Green is the man there now, but sharing time with LT for a year or two sure wont' hurt that run game. And that's a team that made it to the AFCC this year and has a defense that will keep them in every game. The Jets make a LOT of sense for him.

I wouldn't be surprised if L.T. turns to the darkside (patroits) like previous running backs have.

There is no fit whatsoever with the Patriots, who have too many old guys already under contract at running back (Taylor, Morris, Faulk).

Plus he wants no part of a running back committee and has questionable locker room impact.

It might be a Shawn Alexander situation where he just goes from top of the league to out of the league in 2-3 years. The tank ran dry.

See I always thought Alexander was more a product of his O-line. I think that is why he fell from the top so fast. LT will be picked up and still has some left in the tank, starting? Probably not, but he can still contribute.

Philly just cut Westbrook today and I wouldn't be surprised if he is going to retire. He isnt the same player he used to be at all and the string of concussions is worrisome.

I could see the Eagles making a play at LT. McCoy is good, but very young. We need a vet in the backfield too.

Myself, I think he would fit very well with the Texans. The Patriots have way too many "experienced" backs that are already getting paid.

I'm not even a Colts fan and I think it's a silly/crazy/stupid/foolish thing to bash and insult Indy's Offensive line.

It's not really an insult to say that they are better at pass blocking than run blocking...

I'd be shocked if he ended up with the Pats. He could be serviceable for one more year, but this isn't a situation like Curtis Martin or even Thomas Jones. I think he has enough left in the tank for one season and then he will retire. He'll probably put up roughly 800sh yards, 5-6 TDs wherever he goes and then retire the year after.

Well, any Colts fan will tell you the reason we can't run the ball is because of the O-Line, its quite obvious. They are a tremendous pass blocking group, but have absolutely no idea how to run block. Hopefully with the departure of Mudd it will improve as the scheme changes a bit.

I agree with the poster who said LT to the Jets. That makes perfect sense to me. I could also see him landing in Chicago or Houston, but the Patriots doesn't make much sense to me.

For the first time in a long time, I think the Colts may actually go an offseason with hunting down another WR, TE or HB. If Polian were to use a draft pick (since we'll never sign anyone), this time I'd actually be a bit annoyed.

This is the offseason to worry about the next RDE after Freeney. The Colts can continue seriously contending late into Manning's career if they maintain a pass rush. After that, they'll get to fortify both lines. It'll be splendid. An offseason without a high pick on a backup skill player.

    Oh, and no to LT.

I don't think its scheme. Look at my beloved Steelers, who have changed personnel to try to be better at protecting the QB and now they struggle to open up running holes. You can have sturdy OGs that create a pocket, or fast OGs that can pull and aggressively blast open running lanes. But rarely do you find an Alan Faneca that can do both.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

    Tomlinson picks the Jets
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 14, 2010 6:11 PM ET
LaDainian Tomlinson has made his decision. He's going to be a New York Jet.

Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that Tomlinson and the Jets reached an agreement today on a two-year contract.

Tomlinson's decision, which had been expected for the last couple of days, comes after he considered the Minnesota Vikings, where he visited on Thursday. On Friday he visited the Jets and on Saturday he flew home to San Diego to spend some time thinking before making up his mind.

Tomlinson will join a backfield that also includes running back Shonn Greene, who's coming off a strong rookie season with the Jets in 2009. During the regular season Greene carried 108 times for 540 yards, and in three playoff games he had 54 carries for 304 yards.

The question now is whether Tomlinson, who will turn 31 in June, has enough left to contribute to a Jets team that's coming off a loss in the AFC Championship Game and has Super Bowl aspirations. In 2009 Tomlinson had a career-low 730 rushing yards and a career-low 3.3 yards a carry.
