Good for harrison and sounds bad for Brewer. How's Brew play a whole game without a steal?
    How'd the rookie pg do?
Don't forget that last year that pg scored 20pts or so in the first game and had us all buzzing. Didn't do squat after thatt and didn't make the team.........

Here's a recap of the game:

    http://www.nba.com/jazz/Revue/rrmr04_game3.html

Facing Dallas’ young nucleus of Josh Howard, Marques Daniels, and rookie Devin Harris, Indiana came out firing on all cylinders in the second game of the Reebok Rocky Mountain Review. The Pacers built an eight point lead early in the quarter, shooting 57 percent from the field. Seven different players scored for Indiana, with Luke Recker leading the way with six points. At the end of the quarter, the Pacers led 25-18.

Devin Harris helped lead an early charge for the Mavericks in the second quarter with impressive ball handling, scoring four points in the opening minutes of the quarter. For Indiana, James Jones added five points and three rebounds. At the half, the Pacers still controlled the lead, 41-37. Though, Devin Harris continued his strong play chipping in 10 points on 4-9 shooting. David Harrison led the Pacers with eight points on 4-5 shooting.

Each team started the third quarter out slow, but Marques Daniels helped Dallas catch up to the Pacers. The guard scored seven points in the quarter, on 3-6 shooting. Indiana had a difficult time finding someone with a hot hand, as five players scored each scored one basket. By the end of the quarter, the Mavericks and Pacers were tied 52-52.

Dallas continued their strong play into the fourth quarter, taking a 10 point lead and controlling the tempo. Bingo Merriex came off the bench for the Mavericks, scoring both inside and outside for Dallas. Devin Harris continued his strong play, setting up the Mavericks offense and leading fast breaks. And while Indiana found themselves down double digits, David Harrison remained consistent, scoring in the paint and providing a strong defensive presence for the Pacers.

At the end of four quarters, Dallas routed the Pacers 76-58. Devin Harris and Bingo Merriex led the Mavericks with 16 points each while James Jones and David Harrison led the Pacers with 10.

It's early, but Brew best step up his game. I'm certain that a 3rd year player would make more than a 1st. With the raise the P's just gave Johnson, I'm sure they wouldn't mind finding a reason to cut costs somewhere and if that means letting a 3 year benchwarmer go in favor of a 1st year benchwarmer...well...so be it.

That stat line couldn't look much worse for Brewer. Wright didn't do much either though. Ah well. Least Harrison and James Jones did alright.

Besides 5 assists Brewer also had 6 rebounds. What coach Brown said was the Pacers wanted to see if he could run a team. Whatever, I doubt if the Pacer's decide on their third string point guard because of the summer league games. Unless Brewer signs a contract with another team he will probably be in pre-season camp with the Pacers.

No? How WOULD you decide whether to keep a third-string player?
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

Telling stat of the game: Pacers give up 30 turnovers that translated into 32 Mavericks points. 30 turnovers in a 40 minute game!

... I don't know about Jamison, but I don't think ANYONE on this squad proved they can run a team last night!

And to think that we had the lead at the half, we really had to turn the ball over a lot in the second half, particularly in the fourth quarter when we scored a whole 6 points. This HAD to be a frustrating one of Coach Brown.

(Did anyone else notice that they had the player's positions messed up for the starters? Harrison listed at G, Brewer listed at F... hehe)

Ouch, Primoz didn't have the best game starting at C for the 'Cats...
    22 Min, 1 of 3 FG, 4 pts, 2 reb, 7 PF(??)

Meanwhile Loren Woods had a 'monster' game for them...
    33 min, 5 of 9 FG, 13 pts, 16 reb, 3 bs
(although 5 PF and 8 TOs...)

Josh Smith fouling out with 21 points in the Atlanta win...

    Other notables...
Ben Gordon with 21 points in the Chicago win...
Deng with 10 off the bench on 3 of 12 shooting...
Qyntel Woods, camps leading scorer with 23 in Portlands win over Utah...
Telfair with 9 points, 4 ast and 4 to...
Kris Humphries with 19 on 9 of 13 shooting to go with 10 boards... he could be a guy that really comes in and plays well for the Jazz this year. They will be a suprisingly good team.

Maybe a significant factor in Brewers stat line:
    Devin Harris is VERY good...........
He was the best player in the Big 10 last year. IMO

    Jamison Brewer

    Boo... :boo: :boo: :boo:

Eventhough Devin Harris is good for a rookie, Brewer is a vet and should have the Bball IQ to be on the court with him. Looks like Brewer better get his act together pretty quickly because even if wright is at the same level as Brewer, I'm sure he is cheaper...Right?

    I told you Brewer sucks.

Though also, Recker seemed to play well in only 4 min. Why did he only get 4 min?
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

Since that was the first summer league game, I'm sure other guys on the roster like Recker will get a shot in the next game. Everyone can't get decent mins in the same game.

Brewer will need the :4leaf: of the Irish to overcome such a poor game! Maybe you are right...Maybe he just sucks. :boo:

Actually, I don't care if Wright is no better then Jameson because if they are on the same level...Wright is cheaper. I know that there is the hoopla about Brewer's defense, but if the guy can't get off the IL because the coaches think his game is garbage...why even waste a roster spot on him. Seeing AJ get a 4 year deal told me all I needed to know about Brewer, and that is the fact that he has "NO CHANCE" in the coaches mind to crack the rotation.

Jameson Brewer :boo:, you are the weakest link....Good-bye!
