Chad Ford: The Knicks also had several other trades brewing Wednesday. Two sources said the Celtics and Knicks are in advanced talks about a Nate Robinson-for-Eddie House swap. However, both sources stressed that a deal was not completed yet.
The Timberwolves also inquired about a possible Darko Milicic-for-Brian Cardinal deal. The Knicks might be inclined to pull the trigger (it could save them some cash this year) depending on what happens with the Rockets and Celtics.

Marc Stein: The Miami Heat have indeed expressed interest in San Antonio's Roger Mason, but the Miami deal that interested the Spurs most is no longer possible.
The Spurs were hoping to tempt Miami into absorbing Mason's $3.8 million expiring contract into a $4.3 million trade exception that would have enabled the teams to complete a deal without San Antonio needing to take back another player. A future second-round pick from the Heat would have completed the transaction.
But the Heat, dealing with their own luxury-tax issues like San Antonio and reluctant to add to their payroll, ultimately declined.
And the trade exception in question -- created through the departure of Marcus Banks in Miami's Shawn Marion trade with Toronto on Feb. 15, 2009 -- expired Monday at midnight.
The Spurs and Mason's agent, Mark Bartelstein, have mutually agreed to pursue trades before Thursday's 3 p.m. trading deadline, but it'll take a new trade construction to get Mason to Miami now if the Heat want to try again.
San Antonio is more than $10 million over the luxury-tax threshold, so the deal proposed Monday to Miami would have cut their tax bill by nearly 40 percent. Miami is roughly $2.8 million over the tax threshold.

New name in trade talks: Mike Conley

    Conley
It's rare that you hear a new name pop up on the trade front this late in the game, but two sources have told ESPN.com that the Grizzlies have let teams know Mike Conley can be had in exchange for cap relief and a good first-round pick.

The Grizzlies have had an on-again, off-again relationship with Conley since his rookie season. And with Jamaal Tinsley in place, and O.J. Mayo capable of swinging to the point, it sounds like they're ready to cut bait if the right deal comes along.

Although one source stressed that it's unlikely Conley is moved before the trade deadline, it's interesting that his name is even out there.

Mike Conley isn't that good but by trading him it will make the mistake of not drafting Tyreke Evans or any other guard over Hasheem Thabeet when they already had a good young starting center more glaring.

The Cavaliers, Clippers and Wizards are in the midst of completing a three-way trade that sends Antawn Jamison and Sebastian Telfair to Cleveland; Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Al Thornton to Washington; and Drew Gooden to Los Angeles.
There may be one or two other players involved in the transaction but nobody of consequence.
The deal strongly indicates Amar'e Stoudemire, if traded by the Suns before Thursday's 3 p.m. NBA deadline, is bound for Miami.
By shedding next season's guaranteed contracts belonging to Thornton ($2.8 million) and Telefair ($2.7 million), the Clippers reduced their salary cap to the $33 million range, putting it in prime position to compete this summer for the services of LeBron James or another marquee free agent.

Bill Simmons has been beating that drum for awhile. It is by far the most talented group/biggest market he could go to. Baron Davis, Kaman, Eric Gordon, Blake Griffen. And LA, crazy, potentially add Lebron, again crazy. I don't know why he wouldn't do it, actually.

@johnhollinger Just a thought: 3rd team in Cle-Was could be Chicago. Z, Moon for Salmons, Jamison, and then trade Gooden into newly created Chi exception

There were rumors today that there was still some conversations going on.

Cross Murphy off the Cavaiers list

    http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=15336

It's not immediately clear what Washington will do if they are spurned by the Cavaliers. Miami isn't interested in Jamison. The Boston Celtics remain interested, likely with shooting guard Ray Allen and his expiring contract as their primary offering.

One report has the Wizards sitting the rest of the trade season out if they can't get the Cavaliers deal done, and then re-grouping to see if they can move Jamison in the summer.

It does seem the Cavaliers talks with the Indiana Pacers (Troy Murphy) and Golden State (Corey Maggette) are no longer necessary, and that they will be getting Stoudemire or Jamison.
Sittin on top of the world!

Looks like the Cavs got their guy in Jamison. Wiz get a young player in Thornton AND a 1st round pick, plus Z's expiring. Clips just keep saving money

They had the cap space to sign him before the trade, actually.

Is there any doubt that Cleveland does not come out of the East this year? Is any other team even close at this point?

Edit: I guess they didn't have the cap space to sign him before the trade. Interesting. My mistake. For some reason with all of Bill Simmons' LeBron-to-Clippers talk, I assumed they had the cap space to actually make it happen.
