    Default sacramento rumor

referencing the rumored murphy-kenny thomas swap.

i know we'd like to get jason thompson and kenny thomas' expiring contract for murphy, but it seems improbable to me. on the other hand, we also know that the kings would like to move beno udrih's really long contract (all the way up to 2013).

    how about:

murphy, watson, diener for thompson, thomas, udrih

the price for getting thompson is taking on udrih's contract, who will take over the backup pg role (no doubt for many years to come thanks to his contract).

the difference of murphy's contract to udrih's is about $5m, which should still be enough to get us under the luxury tax next year.

kenny thomas can be bought out.

watson and diener are both expiring contracts, so sacto might still end up with a little cap room next year.

    thoughts?

Bird would do nothing to add salary past 10-11, talking Beno here. Plus he is not the answer at point so I doubt there would be an interest.

Look for a team with two young promising points.... The Bobcats & T-Wolves come to mind but there might be others.

Could Bird be looking at Felton or try to send pieces to MN for Rubio?

I like the trade initially, but I'd like to know if the Pacers are taking on salary or shedding more. I think Martin and Udrih have more years than Ford and Murphy, so I'm not too sure about that.
Lance + Starting SG = Awesome

    Now really free Lance!

I'd cry tears of happiness if that deal were possible.

The whole point of the trade for Sacramento is to shed Martin and Beno's contracts. There is no way the deal is done without Beno. But Thompson is a future all star, Kevin is amazing, and Beno is very serviceable as a starter until we get our answer. Then we still have Mike's 10.5m expiring contract, which might get Cleveland Amare Stoudamire or Antawn Jamison along with a top 5 pick, and another first next year.
"I keep wondering the same thing. Last week they had the 4th worst record in the league, had an 11.9 percent chance of winning the lottery and were in line to land a franchise type player like Derrick Favors or DeMarcus Cousins. This week? They have a 1.7 percent chance of winning the lottery, have the 8th worst record and are in line to draft Cole Aldrich or Greg Monroe. Way to go Jim O'Brien. Rest Danny Granger the rest of the season (if it isn't too late) and give Josh McRoberts lots of minutes. That ought to do it." - Chad Ford on winning meaningless games

Way to go Jim, you may have just put our franchise back another 4+ years.
