SAN ANTONIO (AP) — San Antonio Spurs guard George Hill (FSY) is apologizing for nude pictures of himself that were recently posted online.

In a statement issued by the team Tuesday, Hill said: "A year ago I made a mistake and take full responsibility for my actions. I have matured and learned from this episode."

Hill apologized to his girlfriend, family, the Spurs and fans.

Hill, the Spurs' first-round draft pick in June 2008, is the first player from Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis to make it to the NBA.

Last month, Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden (FSY) apologized for nude photos of himself that surfaced on the Internet.Spurs' George Hill apologizes for nude photos

Well JMR may be the only way the Pacers get any national press at this point..

    But there's also Rodney Carney

At least they're "fit" I better hope there's never a Larry Bird pic out there *shudder*

What am I missing here? I guess I don't follow how having nude photos of yourself makes you "dumb". Granted, I'm sure that he could probably have had better judgement on how they got on-line, but I still don't see that worthy of having to make an apology over.

Seriously, is there an angle to this story that I'm ignorant of?

Real easy......PR-wise....I'm guessing the Spurs told Hill to apologize. They nipped it in the bud ( so to speak ) by controlling the message and therefore the outcome. Heck, did anyone even know about this until he brought it up?

Whatever.... nowadays, I have no idea why a College Player headed to the NBA would even allow anybody to take a picture like this....that's just plain stupid on his part. As you said.....he should have just exercized better judgement.
Ash from Army of Darkness: Good...Bad...I'm the guy with the gun.

This is David West, he is the Honey Badger, West just doesn't give a *****....he's pretty bad *ss cuz he has no regard for any other Player or Team whatsoever.

Like most of the outfits cheerleaders wear really leave a whole lot to the imagination...

Nudity is strange for Americans, in movies it is art, in situations like this it is scary and wrong.

Give me a break, what does he have to apologize for?

Its the whole Puritan society America suffers from. We'd rather gasp and gawk at nudity than think about the real problems of our society. It just distraction.

Pornography is rampant in the US. That is what we suffer from.

I wouldn't have known anything about it if he hadn't made a public statement.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

    So true.

Maybe the NBA as a whole with the help of the players association shou,d just issue a leage wide apology for any nude pictures of the players that might show up - get it over with

Its dumb to take pics of yourself in the nude and then send them to someone especially if you are a public figure if the relationship or whatever it was goes south she can save it and post it on the net for the world to see.

In the grand scheme of things its not offensive compared to you know actual crimes but its an embarrassing situation that is easily preventable with common sense and its ironic that both players in this situation are from Naptown.

So, we are that afraid of "nudity" that you are considered "less than intelligent" for being photographed "nude" Because of what "might" happen down the road.

I know that you guys are going down the "P.R." angle, but all that over a "nude" still? Maybe if he was fornicating with a goat, I'd understand the cause for alarm, but having a nude photo is "wrong"?

I personally don't get why anyone takes nude pics of themselves unless they are incredibly vain.

Fact is when you are a public figure and in the internet age your actions come back to haunt you if its recorded, photographed, etc. Look at Tiger Woods.

You would think these athletes would be smart enough to prepare for these things especially since history repeats itself.

But no its just a bad idea. Now had this not seen the light of day nobody would care because well we'd not know about it and now we do.

Can we please keep things reasonable and not say silly things like this?

There's a difference between showing off your junk on the 'net and being nude in a (non porno) movie.

I'm not saying it's illegal or morally wrong, but I think it's in poor taste and it most likely will hurt you more than it helps you. Or maybe it will just be indifferent. Who knows; depends on the person and the audience, I suppose.

Personally, if I were a celebrity, I would avoid any photos of that nature altogether because of just the possibility of it being released. Well, hell, actually that's my stance currently but if I were worried about my public perception, I sure as hell wouldn't risk it. Nothing good would come of it.

Again, that's not to say it's illegal or (IMO) immoral.

This whole chain of discussion probably doesn't belong on PD to begin with.

What negative comes out of it specifically?

Calvin Klein offers millions upon millions of dollars to celebs to pose in just briefs and plaster that photo 50ft billboards on buildings.

We all just need to lighten up. Who cares if he sent someone a nude photo? Hopefully it worked out for him.

No, it's not art in movies. Usually sex and nudity mean a hard R or NC-17, but Arnold can blow up and shoot 1000 people per film with no problem.

Sad to live in a country where hurting someone is more acceptable than being naked near them.

"Listen here punk, I'm either going to take my clothes off and stand here, or punch you so hard in the face that it knocks you out."*

"Punch in the face, punch in the face, for the love of god punch me in the face!"

BTW, this from a league that had me watching 8-10 year old girls doing Pacemates caliber "dancing" during timeouts last year at more than one game.

Plus, didn't one of the Pacers pose virtually nude back in the ABA days?

I mean I'm not pushing people out of the way to see a naked dude, but otherwise I couldn't care less.

The only bad thing about too much nudity is it would take all the fun out of it. The pseudo taboo aspect keeps it exciting. I wouldn't want to live in a world where seeing Megan Fox nude called for a "ho hum, seen it all before" reaction.

I think all Hicks is saying is that nothing good can come from having your junk posted all over the internet.

Others can't seem to get past the idea that they personally don't care about it. Failing to realize that whether you perceive it to be petty or not, the public at large cares.

Either way I can't fathom that people saying it's "no big deal" would certainly feel that way if it was their junk being posted on the internet when it was something that was supposed to be personal. I'm sure you'd find a reason to care. Which brings me to the part where it is stupid .... for him it's now another distraction. As if professional athletes didn't have enough of them. Imagine having to deal with explaining this to your family. Weeeeird.
