If the Pacers were better and contending, then there would be a huge effect. However, I can't look to the Pacers to bring me back up this year.

I have not enjoyed watching the Pacers this season. . . It hurts me to see it being played the way it is...by my favourite team.

No effect. My excitement will just shift from football to racing now. I will still watch most of the Pacers games left this season, there is just no excitement there this season.

Here is how I feel right now, I can't wait until April and June to see what's going to happen with these 2 teams.

It makes me realize even more just how pathetic the Pacers franchise has become.

    No effect. I'm a Colts fan, but I'm a Pacer's fan first.

It's funny, I wanted the Colts to win, but I also thought they deserved to lose because they gave up on an undefeated season.

It's said the Saints wanted it more, but if the Colts were still undefeated I'm sure that wouldn't have been the case.

I can devote my full attention to basketball at least when the Pacers lose I find it a lot less disappointing in comparison. But I'm glad when they do win.

In other news I've got my spring training baseball trip all lined up. Fun in the sun, bite me Hoosier winter hell. Yes, watching a meaningless Pirates vs Orioles game has twice the interest this Pacers season does at this point, admittedly mostly on location alone.

No effect except to appreciate Reggie Miller for in some ways being the anti-Manning, being UNAFRAID to lead and up his game tremendously at the most opportune time, though it unfortunately never got us a Pacers championship.

Reggie didn't exactly show up every time himself, though certainly he has more of a clutch reputation than Peyton.

I hope this Super Bowl loss knocks all these bandwagon colts fans down a few rungs. The majority of them always say "why can't the Pacers be like the Colts, maybe they should hire Polian to build a basketball team, I bet he could do it in his spare time, its only a handful of players." Maybe they'll see how hard it is to win at any level of sports no matter how great your team is. They have the best team and best player in all of football and still got slapped by the saints. I like the Colts and all but the level of the fan snobbery has gone too far with the them.

My excitement for the Pacers died long before the Steelers' five-game losing streak. The Super Bowl was anticlimatic for me.

However, my excitement for IU football picked up a notch during the fourth quater yesterday, but I know that was just a fleeting moment. Nonetheless, I can't get past the irony that former IU players have made game-clinching plays in two of the last five Super Bowls.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

I myself don't like the bandwagon fans either. When I go back to work Wednesday I bet I'm going to hear "the Colts suck" more than a few times. The Colts don't suck, they just got beat by a better team that had a better gameplan. In a few years when Peyton retires we will then see who the real fans are when the losses start to pile up again. I predict a half empty Lucas Oil Stadium just like the Dome of the 80's and early 90's. It's a harsh reality we will have to come to terms with and one I'm not ready for. Unless of course we can 49er it and draft a great quarterback to be ready when Peyton retires.

The Pacers are going through this kind of a lull right now but when they start to win again the "fans" will shift from Colts to Pacers. It's all about who's winning at the moment, not about tradition or what the team did 5, 10, or 15 years ago. What have you done for me lately? is the mentality of the average Indy sports fan. /endrant

I have to admit, I'm not really "feeling it" right now for anything sports-related. Still kinda bummed.
