Thread: The Next Move.

    Default The Next Move.

The next Pacers transaction is hard to guess. From the way Bird talked it sounds like today will not be our last press confrence of the summer.

With us getting our permineter help and re-signing AJ that leaves a upgrade at center as the most logical move.

And Bender, Pollard are the most likely to be moved, Taking there contracts into consideration. [We're stuck with Croshere.] Another thing to consider is Jackson is looking to become our new sixth man and Fred Jones is much more reliable than Bender.

    The possiabilties:

    - Eric Dampier [The ovbious]
    - Big Z [Don't like him but he would be 13 million off the books next summer.]
    - Dale Davis [Me thinking wishfuly.]

    Any other possiabilties?

Bjomte Bjomte.....or whatever the hell it is.

But remember, two years ago it was a "Championship move"

last year it was..."a creater, a slasher"

and this year it is a "move that improves the team"

another possibility could be replacement of an existing player.

for example, if they don't like Bender, they might trade him for another SF.

I think the next move, if any, will be the one no one expects...

I agree with blanket that it will be a move no one sees because it's bound to happen. Just about every year Walsh (now Bird) has done something we never would have guessed. We caught onto the SJ trade.....so he might feel he has to do something else. haha....just me But for real, who knows what's going to happen

I don't see any way they trade Bender at this point. He is the heir apparent to Al's backup minutes and if he emerges as a 15pt guy they will be apeshit happy. He and Jackson can transform the perimeter game of this team now. He will get the minutes now.
No way they trade Al and Bender same year.

I agree. And I could also see Boumtje-Boumtje get signed. I'd welcome either. Divac, I'd welcome. *A thought, Divac + Pollard = good?

No more trades methinks. Maybe a FA signing or two or three or four.

How will get Bender get minuates?

Reggie-Jackson-Artest will take them away. Unless he puts on 30 lbs to play PF he won't see any time.

Bender will be playing SF, in all likelihood, although he really is a wild card and while on the floor, is just a mismatch problem, so position doesn't really matter.

It's not going to be Artest/Jackson/Miller all sharing time...Artest/Miller are going to be on the floor to start with, then Bender and/or Jackson will come in for one/both of them. He'll get his minutes.

Can you say, Ron Artest? Perhaps management is really trying to be rid of him, after all, SJ can play the 3, who knows?

Don't trade Ronnie!!I dunno how you can get tired of a hard working All-Star DPOY who averages 18 ppg and has been improving each year.

Bender will get his minutes. The Pacers have invested a lot of time and money into him and they aren't going to give up on him at this point unless they get something they really need in return. The rumor of Bender, Cro and Pollard for Dampier I don't think is good enough. I think Bird/DW think Harrison is a steal and he is a Dampier clone so I don't think that will happen.

I think Harrison is going to be a good player and much like dampier IN A FEW YEARS! We need somebody that can contibute now and help us to a championship this year before Reggie retires.
