I guess it's about the money. Doubt we'd have given him $6 mil per, and I don't think the Rocks would have either. But why did the Warriors pay so much for him? And don't they still have Van Exel and Claxton?

Wow. He's an okay backup pg, but that is a whole lot of money for that. Golden State sure putting together a quality team. Throwing all their money this offseason at Foyle and Fisher... ed:

They have to be dealing away one of their PG's...

you would think. But maybe not. Speedy Claxton interests me. Anyone seen him play a lot? Does he play good D?
You, Never? Did the Kenosha Kid?

I would think a PG will be traded also. Speedy is a good defender, not great, but his size hurts him against larger PGs who can post him up. He's really fast though and gets a lot of steals with his quickness. Can get into the lane really easily as well.

EDIT - the pending DFish signing confuses me also. Maybe Mullin sees something that I don't. ugh.

I think they are expecting to trade NVE because he has an ending deal doesn't he? They were pretty high on Claxton i thought.

    This is off of Realgm.

The announcement that former Laker point guard Derek Fisher will be signing with the Golden State Warriors, sends a clear indication that a significant trade is imminent. Chris Mullin has been firm on his stance that the Warriors will not involve themselves in a courtesy sign and trade for the coveted center Erick Dampier and this massive log jam at the point guard likely means that a multi-player trade is in the works.

Without a clear franchise player, no Warrior seems untouchable. A likely scenario will involve Nick Van Exel being packaged with Dampier, possibly back to Dallas, or to Memphis. Jason Richardson has also been rumored in several trade scenarios this summer, with the emergence of Pietrus.

The next trade that Chris Mullin makes will clearly define the early stages of his career as an executive and expect it to happen soon.

It's think it's got to be Dallas! They like Van Exel in Dallas and they have been trying to get a good center there for years. Dampier and VE would put Dallas back in the hunt.

Anybody thinking what im thinking. Probably not, but GS- IND trade in the works. I dont know how this may work on real gm, but Damp, Richardson, and pg for Pollard, Bender, and Anthony Johnson or something like that. I can not believe Mullin spent that much money on a player who will be well on the decline by his third year with the team. I dont blame him Fish took the money and ran.
