Default Larry Bird comments on trade......

This is from the press conference

It was just on. It was Larry,Rick,Mike Brown introducing SJax to the Pacers. Stephen will be wearing number 1. Larry said that this isnt the last deal for the Pacers and if something came by that makes our team better that he will pull the trigger and do the trade. They asked SJax if he is worried about Shaq in Miami and he said i'm not worried about any team but this one.

I really like the way the team is right now. No more trades LB.

I still have concerns about the SF-C positions.

I do not have confidence that Bender will be healthy.

I question that we are set at center. We could use some more muscle, or something.

I assume by more deals to come he doesn't mean locking up AJ for 4 years... ed:

How can you be concerned about SF? Ron is there, and if need be, Jackson can help out. And if Bender is unreliable, as very much possible, JJ can try his luck.

As for C, we have Foster, Harrison, and Pollard. One more wouldn't be bad, but NO Dampier.
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

I'm very optimistic about Bender this year. Hopefully he doesn't slip on a banana peel and have anymore injuries now that he gets a larger role.

I don't think we need more muscle at Center. Whenever we play Miami, just plug Croshere into the starting lineup and have him set up camp by the 3 pt line. Same goes for Det? I mean, what difference is Dampier going to make, he's just like Foster except stronger. And not stronger than Shaq or Ben Wallace.

Does Harrison remind anyone else of Dampier? I haven't seen his game but his size and the way I've heard he plays seems to be very much like Dampier.

If Bird and Walsh believe he was a steal then I don't see them giving up much for Dampier. I would think the last thing DW wants to do is get Dampier and have to let Harrison go, only to have Harrison become a very good player (a la Dampier).

Nobody has said anything about letting Harrison go. We'll have him for at least 4 years.

I am not a big Damp fan but if we could get him for Pollard and Bender I would say do it.

I will reserve my cursing to myself about how we should have dumped Bender last year so we could keep someone else.

Pollard is a total waste of a roster spot and I just dont trust that Bender will ever have more than one full season without an injury. I cant believe Denver gave Camby all that money.

If we're giving up Bender, I'd want Dunleavy back as well. That weights the trade enough in our favor that GS won't touch it.

Maybe we should throw in a conditional future second-round pick.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!
