    Default Dampier

http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm To find the article on the Pacers, Its under July 15 then scroll down to a picture of Vince Carter, its 7 rumors above that, but heres a quote:

They've had conversations with the Pacers, who are hoping to unload the contracts of big men Scot Pollard and Austin Croshere. It probably would take adding promising youngster Jonathan Bender to the package to tempt the Warriors.

I'm the guy who said the kid has the potential to have Garnett-like impact.

I'd do the trade. Then find a servicable Forward to replace him. Perhaps even give JJ some minutes.

Cliff's just a patch until we get another F in a year or two; in the meantime he's a great defender that would help us off the bench.

Jones has no role here right now. He has Tinsley, Jackson, Miller, and Johnson ahead of him at the Gs.

Of course, that doesn't mean I wouldn't be happy to ask him to just wait a year until Reggie retires, but otherwise...

Man thats sad. Even as recently as last season we still had people on here thinking that this year he would break out into a superstar. Now we are hoping he can be the 6th man.

From the sounds of it Jackson is going to be our 6th man. Bender wont get much more minutes this year, but he will get more.

I think Bender for Dampier would be fair AT THIS MOMENT... then you add getting rid of 2 bad contracts on top of that.

Where do I sign? But, when you throw in potential...All bets are off!

I'd hate to give up a guy that young with that much potential for a guy that old with limited potential...

I don't think anyone can expect anything more then what you got last year with Dampier and to me I was not all that impressed for what he is wanting. :chronofrog:

I guess it is not as easy as I thought

I don't care about trading Bender, I don't want to trade Fred Jones. I just love what he brings.

    What about Bender/Pollard for Dampier?

I don't think that GS would want to take on Croshere's contract when they can just let Dampier walk.

and I find Fred Jones one of the most EXPENDABLE on the team. Undersized shooting gaurd with questionable range. I grant that if he hadn't gotten hurt in the PO's they might have turned out differently...or not. No doubt his absence hurt us. But for the most part if he weren't a dunker, he'd be ignored by most fans.

I think Freddie is the most expendable guy on the team as it stands right now, BUT if Reggie does retire Freddie becomes the #1 backup at SG.

I just wonder if Fred is being figured into a trade for this offseason since there is not really a position for him, this season.

I like Fred, but if we can put a package together for him and one of our bad contracts for someone decent at center...I think the Fred is as good as gone.

Doesn't also help that he was one of Zeke's guys

"Most fans" would be the one who also vote for Vince to play in the all star game too, right?

Here is what I like about Freddy:

    - Works Hard [Improved his range over the season.
    - Good defense
    - Athletic/Slasher
    - Can stay healthy

Exactly. Fred Jones has a decent jumper now and is improving fast. He is NOT the most expenable player on this team, nor should he be.

There is room for both Freddie and Stephen on this team, particularly after this coming season when probably Reggie lets it go.

I wouldn't trade Freddie, if I could avoid it. Freddie and SJax give this team more options that it had before.

Like I have said before, Carlisle will find a way to play Stephen and Fred.
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

thats exactly right.... hes a nice player, but he's certainly expendable. fans always overvalue their own players. Freddie does not help this team more than Dampier would. if we didnt have reggie or sjax maybe itd be a different story
