Default Whats the difference between Troy this year and Troy last year?

Troy really seems different this year to me in both his game and his attitude on the court.

Last year, to me, was best summarized, when Troy tipped in the game winner against the Lakers, and was jumping around like he hit the lottery.

This year its like he lost a close, close family member. Very little emotion, numbers down across the board etc.

I am probably one of the few people here that thinks if Troy was making 4 million a year, instead of 11, he would be viewed much differnetly.

The fact that (aledgedly) more than a few teams have interest, leads me to believe some teams see value.

The Murphy form last year has been replaced by the "ghost of Murphy"

So I was curious as to what you guys think might account form the change in attitude and drop off in stats?

    Losing finnaly getting to him?
    Sick of Obie?
    Doesn't like Indy?
    Tired of Playing Basketball?

    Not sure?

Well I think he knows this team isn't going to work and that he is possibly going to be traded. Players always say it doesn't effect them, but I think it does. In terms of his game, it seems the same. Without looking at his numbers this year I would say, good rebounder, threes at the top of the key, and an occasional drive to the goal. All of which bore me, I am ready for some new blood!

Perhaps he's tired of playing well and getting unfairly ripped by fans about this game.

Murphy is a guy who likes to compete and win. I think it is a combination of two things.

First: he is tired of losing, both he and Dunleavy have not sniffed the playoffs in their careers. That gets old when you have been in the league for almost a decade.

Second: It seems like the guys don't like playing for O'brien, or those that do can't muster up enough momentum to win any games. Unfortunately, I think Dun and Murphy buy into the plan, but there are 12 players on a team... 2 wont' get it done. I think Obie's philosophies are too complicated sometimes. Dunleavy's quote this week about people not knowing where they were supposed to be is a little puzzling. Especially considering the fact that Dunleavy, Murphy, Granger and Watson are all vets that I would say have a high basketball iq.

I think the chemistry and locker room are a sinking ship right now and people are jumping off and trying to cover their asses. Obie is yelling at the guys at halftime, which is deserved. But when was the last time you have heard or gotten the impression Obie was that type of guy. The season is fading, and fading very quickly.

Lastly, why does Obie always grab baby wipes throughout the game and wipe his hands constantly??? Has anyone else noticed this and find it a little odd? Just sayin', a dude that is afraid of sweat on his players is not one I want leading them into battle. TIME FOR A CHANGE LARRY!

I am glad this turned into another fire Obie thread!!!

The only difference I see or saw was when he first came back from his two injuries. other than that he looks the exact same

And I'm sure if Troy hits the game winner next week against the lakers he'll be jumping for joy just like last year

He hates O'Brien for giving him lots of minutes and putting the ball in his hands and putting him forward as an example of the kind of player he likes.

I wouldn't say it's just him. Everyone doesn't seem too happy and cheerful. We had games last season that were much closer than the ones this season. It got the players excited and pumped up hoping for the close win.

Speaking about Troy specifically, he's a hard worker, he cares about the team and basketball. He secures rebounds. He wants to win and when we do well, he's happy much like everyone else on the team. It's a job well done as a team.

I agree, he is what he is and what he always has been. The biggest difference I see this year is there is no Jeff Foster out there to help him/cover for him on D. We have Roy Hibbert instead and that is an epic fail combo, they should never ever be on the floor together. Throw in Mike Jr. in that lineup and you can see why we lose so many games.

We just can't afford to have Murph and Hibbert out there together. I, of course, would rather have Hibbert out there instead of Murph. I think this is also a big reason there is so much dislike for Murph, people see he is holding back our young center, not to mention the horrible matador defense. That is why I want him gone, addition by subtraction, it is either him or Hibbert IMO.

    .
    I agree on both points

For Murphy not making the playoffs is like being on the same job for years and never getting a raise

Buck, I guess im reaching my friend but Troy looks a lot more reserved then last year. I think the team as awhole looks depressed when last year they looked energized

I think it's across the board though. Everybody looks down this year.

Yes, everyone is down...because we are worse this year...because of two things:

    1) Granger has been injured

    2) We have terrible interior defense. With Foster out and Roy/Troy on the court at the same time, you should not expect to win. I think the players know this.
