Norv Turner vs. Wade Phillips in Pro Bowl
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on January 18, 2010 12:20 PM ET
The official return of Wade Phillips to the Cowboys confirms one of the least consequential outcomes of divisional round weekend: The Pro Bowl coaches.

Phillips and his staff will face off against Norv Turner and the Chargers staff in a matchup of hard-luck coaches that many thought would square off a week later in Miami.

Traditionally, the conference championship game losing coaching staffs handled the Pro Bowl. But with the all star showcase moved to before the Super Bowl, the honor falls to the highest seeded coaching staff that loses in the divisional round.

Florio, MDS, and I will be on hand for the game. We'll take suggestions for questions to the coaching staffs in the comments

Both Pro Bowl teams will come out flat.

    AFC - 5

    NFC - 3

Decided on a safety in OT.

I really hate having the Pro Bowl before the Super Bowl.

As long as they don't bring their kickers, it's possible. Otherwise - 2-0.

I considered that possibility until I realized that Wade and Turner would never get a shutout.

I don't know where to put this, but Norv Turner was supposed to save the Chargers from "Martyball".

I'm thinking that Mr. Schottenheimer was pleased with the Chargers game plan and execution yesterday. Certainly, during the fourth quarter it felt like the Chargers were playing, "to lose by a really close score".

But then they did not even do that part of it right.

The other part of the original article is just silly - the Cowboys in the Super Bowl this year? No.

In the NFC, there was a huge dropoff from the Saints/ Vikings to the Cardinals, and then and even bigger dropoff to everybody else.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

You know what's ironic that has yet to be mentioned? Marty's son is the Jets OC.
