    Davis for O'Neal.

But if we still had Brad it would have been the Bulls trade, or could have been.

Mark Jackson for Jalen Rose and then getting Mark Jackson back (both were key for the 2000 finals run) for nothing or Davis for Oneal (don't forget we got Joe Klein in this deal as well ) (possibly one of the greatest trades in nba history).

Has there ever been such a one sided trade? A team gives up a bruiser solid contributor and gets in exchange a YOUNG player that turns into one of the top 10 players in the league?

    Definitely Davis for O'Neal.

The Detlef for McKey trade worked pretty well in our favor even though it didn't seem good when it happened.

5 trades come to mind and they have all been mentioned.

    Herb Williams for Detlef.

    Detlef for McKey.

The whole Jalen for Jax and getting Jax back 2/3 the way through tyhe season.

Dale for J.O. This was the riskiest. At the time it was a real gamble that paid off. This trade should be listed on DW tombstone. This was the best trade. Every GM tries to get a superstar, and DW got one

Jalen for Artest. If that all it was it was still a great trade. J.O and Jalen did not get along, and Jalen's contract would be hamstringing the Pacers.

Hands down Davis for Oneal, but a close second Jalen for Artest.

I just assumed you're still in post-Chuck Person mourning. Takes a while to get over things like that.

Jay, Chuck was my favorite player also and while I was not thrilled with the trade. I understood why they made the Person trade. The interesting thing is Chuck was one of DW's favorites, his first pick, DW said many times over the years that it was a very painfull trade.

The team was all offense and no defense at the time, Although Dale was starting to change that a little, but Michael Williams defense was horrible Chuck's was not good. Pooh turned out to be a disaster though and that is the mistake DW made. Sam was a nice addition. Williams never did anything after he left.

So you're still scarred from that trade almost 12 years later....I guess that means Poor Peck still has at least 11 more years of anguish over the Brad Miller trade.....

Well, Micheal had that broken foot thing shortly after he arrived in Minnesota that pretty much ended his career.

Since Micheal Williams was a top-two guy for steals, people mistakenly thought he was a good defender. Well, he was better than Pooh but that ain't sayin' much.

I understood that the Pacers needed to make *a* trade, I just would've preferred Detlef be the guy shipped out. I liked Det, but his combination of skills didn't mix well with Reggie, Rik, and Dale.

I could go on-and-on about the stupidity of the Chuck Person trade, but its clearly not among the three worst trades in team history (#2 overall in 1984 for Tom Owens, who retired two years before that pick was even used ed: ; Alex English, right before he hit his prime, for an about-to-retire George McGinnis ; and a #1 in 1990 for T. Stansberry and Bill Garnett, who were both out of the League by about 1987 .

Get off Stansbury - remember the dunk contest when he jumped over the schlep in the chair?

    Bill Garnett

For the youngsters among us, that is not Kevin Garnett's brother, cousin, uncle or any other distant relative.

Many of the players who played for the Pacers in the 80's were an embarrassment

What I really remember is Julius' last game in MSA, Stansberry is dribbling uncontested toward the basket after a steal. Everyone is in anticipation of what's to come... he jumps, pumps the ball between his legs, realizes he doesn't have anyone to pass to, lands - still holding the ball - at about the three-point line, and is called for traveling. Appearantly, he confused the circle at center court with the circle at the free throw line. mg:
