Default What is your favorite winter time activity?

Hello everyone....with it getting extremly cold and snowy out, just wondered what your favorite thing to do during the winter time is?

I really enjoy going out and playing with in the snow....possibly sledding with whoever or going out in a 4 wheel drive truck and trying to get stuck. Then when your all done going inside and getting a hot cup of coffee or cocoa and warming up and realizing how much fun you just had.

It's a tie between bytching about the snow and cold and counting the days until Spring....

I agree with LA. Unfortunately it is frigid winter in Florida atm and I can't even leave the house due to not being prepared for it at all.

Hiking in the winter is the best. The snow on the ground is completely untouched...everything around you is absolutely quiet. And it's just white - everywhere. There is something very peaceful about it.

I love driving on fresh snow, but there has to be a lot of it and I need to be the first to drive on it. It is so quiet and peaceful. Also sledding, peeing in the snow to write my name, and pushing old ladies into snowbanks.

Is the snowbank you push old ladies into one of the places you enjoy writing your name on first?

I like the actual snow. But I hate all the salt they use to melt it - 20 years ago I don't remember the tons and tons of salt they use today - it gets so messy, I just hate it

Plus, it destroys cars. Makes no sense whatsoever. Colorado uses a stone/sand mixture for traction (and has a population that changes their driving style to match the road conditions.)

Anyway, I like one thick snowfall right around christmastime, after that I want it to be 70 degrees and sunny again. I guess that's why I live where I live.

Carmel is the worst (although I will say I've never seen a city clear the roads so fast) but they use so much salt it is amazing, the road can be clear of snow, ice and not even wet, but they still pour salt everywhere I guess based on the forecast or just what they are told to do. I wish they would only use salt on ice, not on snow, plow snow, salt ice - it would save a ton of money and people would just have to learn to drive

I don't know what Carmel is like. But the sidewalks here have actual mounds of salt piled up every 3 or 4 feet. Mounds that you need to step over. That's how overused it is. And it kills my dog's paws.

Snowmobiling in the upper penninsula of Michigan on groomed trails that are as well marked as highways and give a different view of the world than you can get any other way.

Sitting inside and complaining about how cold, dark, and dreary it is.

Well, that's only about 90% true. I do like skiing in Colorado if the sun is out. 'Cause if you are in Colorado over Christmas Break and the temperature is thirty degrees at the base then you'll be warm. We actually took our ski jackets off during lunch last month because we were warm. That's what I'm talking about...

I used to watch basketball, but that was before I learned to hate the Pacers.
Why do the things that we treasure most, slip away in time
Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you
