alright, 12 years ive been a pacers fan. first and only team nba team i hold any great affection for. i saw some of the moves the pacers made this past offseason and wondered why in the world they would pay for Dahntay Jones?? here it is plain and simple.... Djones was a starter for a contender team, denver nuggets. the denver nuggets have made no secret that they will spend whatever it takes to get and keep players to get them over the hump. so if Djones was any good at all why did they let him go so easily... because he is simply not of any real value. if Djones could have helped them in anyway they would have shelled out the money for his modest salary. the pacers were all excited when they found out he could score, but the only way he was effective in denver was when he was a defensive specialist. now you have JOB giving every player on the floor the green light to chuck up 3s at will and take any half open shot 5 seconds in to the shot clock and you can clearly see that the ball should be in someone elses hands and Djones should not be a starter!!!
luther head shares alot of these characteristics with Djones.
now i gotta say props for scoring Tyler!! this guy should fill jeff fosters shoes nicely and infact add some needed offense with his ability to draw fouls.
it is easy to forget about S.jones, but that because he is generally forgettable. the hawks dumped him and said good riddance.
basically it looks like the pacers went bargain shopping last offseason and picked up the equivalent of yellow stretch pants for 2 dollars out of the clearance bin. thats what they have, crap that nobody else wanted.
after watching the knicks spank the pacers last night i wonder how JOB still has a job!! but that is not the real problem.. the real problem is the late game decisions.. the ridiculous substitutions.. the stupid princeton rick patino offense, the "deflection" based defense. to run this type of scheme affectively, you have to have talented players that trust each other 100%. and even then it is a hit or miss strategy.
now to TJ ford.. he sucks. period. he came over on the oneal trade. the pacers were in a big hurry to unload oneal , but you get him away from our quack doctors and rehabbed properly and he is having a great year for miami. he is better now than any big man we have and can still play with the best in the league because of his experience. he is not dwight howard,or KG but you would have to take him over ilgauskas or ben wallace and rasheed wallace.
dunleavy is savvy, and when he is on the floor with granger makes the offense look silky smooth at times, but murphy is a niche player at best. sure he put up soom good numbers, but the only real numbers that matter are in the win loose column.
