    Default TJ FORD NOT PLAYING?

I Wanted to see what your guys thoughts were on TJ not playing tonight? Was there an injury? It says DNP COACH'S DECISION. I am fine with his minutes being cut, but to not play at all, makes you wonder. It was great in terms of the players that got minutes tonight, they played well and deserved to be on the floor. What are your thoughts on TJ not playing?

    Yay!
"I keep wondering the same thing. Last week they had the 4th worst record in the league, had an 11.9 percent chance of winning the lottery and were in line to land a franchise type player like Derrick Favors or DeMarcus Cousins. This week? They have a 1.7 percent chance of winning the lottery, have the 8th worst record and are in line to draft Cole Aldrich or Greg Monroe. Way to go Jim O'Brien. Rest Danny Granger the rest of the season (if it isn't too late) and give Josh McRoberts lots of minutes. That ought to do it." - Chad Ford on winning meaningless games

Way to go Jim, you may have just put our franchise back another 4+ years.

I was surprised that with T.J. out (I assume he was inactive for whatever reason), A.J. Price could only see 14 minutes of floor time. I'm not complaining - because we won - but I found it to be rather odd.

Is it possible we can actually win without TJ and Troy?? Say it ain't so! But anyhow...
    My thoughts?
    We won.
    Those are my thoughts.
Albeit against the Wolves, but we still won.

I'm hoping it's b/c he's in the process of being traded.

I would rather see Head get TJ's minutes. I know Head is not a point guard, and not sure if him and AJ could play extend minutes together? I really feel we have to see what we have in AJ, so he needs to play. Head has shown he deserves time, with 30 last game and 21 tonight, and I just checked he had 6 assists as well tonight.

Ford needs a wakeup call. He's playing worse than I've ever seen him play, and in the past three games his defensive effort has waned to the point where it's non-existent.

It's the best thing O'Brien's done in a month. On a team with little leadership, O'Brien needs to step in and hold players accountable for their effort.

Will Obie have the stones to do the same with Troy?

By the way, I'm guessing TJ was one of the main guys Dahntay smoked out as not playing hard enough.

“People talk about how quiet he [McKey] is, but he’s really been helpful. He gives a lot of insight to players in how to guard certain teams and what their weaknesses are. The whole team listens to him, and it makes my job a lot easier. Having players like him is what pro basketball is all about for me.” —Larry Brown

Very good question. I think the answer is no. I expect Murphy to retain his position. Obie loves Troy.

As for TJ being one of the slackers, IDK. I just think he's bad. In fact, I don't think any of these guys are slackers.

According to Wells on twitter before the game, Jim decided to bench him and promote AJ to backup.

Anybody think this is related to the "TJ Ford is laughing on the bench during a big loss" tweet?

    Timing fits.
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

murphy and ford for mcgrady works.....#1 reason, 23 million off the books for 2010 season. Remember the list of Free Agents avalaible. We are getting a guy that can be really good if healthy and seat filler. We use him and he uses us to prove he can be healthy. Giving him a better chance to sign a contract in 2010 with another team.

    just my 2 cents

Why would Houston do that though?

Houston has a good team and 23 million coming off the books in 2010. Why on earth do they need Murphy and Ford?

Traded, Benched, doesn't matter to me, as long as I don't have to see him play anymore. If he's now 3rd string, FABULOUS. I hope he's 4th string when Diener comes back.

Now if Murphy would get demoted to 3 or 4th string this just might be an enjoyable rest of the season win or lose.

The only thing quoted from JOB before the game is that the line-up change gave the Pacers 'the best chance to win.'

Just my opinion, they are 3rd and only 3 games out in division and 7th in west (7games out of 1st). Right now McGrady is nothing to them, he isnt playing and they are in OK position in the West. Right now Houstons starting center Chuck Hayes is 6'6", not real tall in the NBA. Murphy is obviously a better player than him. Also, with Ming out for season and could be forever. TJ wont hurt with Brooks and Lowry as their guards. Seems when you are contending adding two descent players for none (atleast to them) isnt so bad continuing 20m on payroll for 1 more season.

Anybody else notice the noteworthy section of the game recap?

"With Watson ensconced as the starting point guard, A.J. Price has moved into the backup role. Former starter T.J. Ford is out of the rotation for the time being."

I think a lot of people need to go back and make edits to the O'brien thread.
