    LA,

I dont have any quote or story to back this up but even if Walsh was the deciding vote, I have a very hard time beleiving that Bird was unaware of the trade. In fact, I think he was a driving force behind it

Again thats speculation on my part but I go off Birds track record like drafting Crosher and then giving him an absurd contract based off of one playoff

    Are you joking?

What I find the most disheartening is that the majority of the other writers/experts in other areas all see the dysfunction that is the PAcers, yet Bird is defiant in saying that things are on course?

So I either Boird is a genius that the rest of the experts/fans cant understand

or he is lost in his job
I don't think he's saying things are on course as in "we're where we want to be and expected to be." He's saying we're not going to throw the plan out the window because of a setback. Which makes sense considering the plan is about getting out from under these contracts next year. Panic moves that set us back financially won't help, but they will hurt.

Bird didn't draft Austin. Donnie did.

And obviously he (Bird) was aware of it, but Donnie has been on record saying that the GS trade was his decision, and his alone. I'm sure Bird was asked his opinion, as was Rick, but in the end Donnie was the the one to line the deal up and he was the one to decide whether or not it was going to get done.
