Was Frank Vogel acquired by Jim, or was he there before? Maybe Jay?
"I keep wondering the same thing. Last week they had the 4th worst record in the league, had an 11.9 percent chance of winning the lottery and were in line to land a franchise type player like Derrick Favors or DeMarcus Cousins. This week? They have a 1.7 percent chance of winning the lottery, have the 8th worst record and are in line to draft Cole Aldrich or Greg Monroe. Way to go Jim O'Brien. Rest Danny Granger the rest of the season (if it isn't too late) and give Josh McRoberts lots of minutes. That ought to do it." - Chad Ford on winning meaningless games

Way to go Jim, you may have just put our franchise back another 4+ years.

Lester is not going to voluntarily pass up a paycheck. If O'Brien is let go he is the top
    candidate.

    Dan Burke?

He's been with the Pacers for a while now. Would he make a good head coach for us?

I'd prefer and I'm sure Bird would agree Lester Conner if we're talking assistants.

Aside from already being here, I think Sam Mitchell would make a good fit as a head coach here.

Hell lets throw in Darnell Hillman while were at it. He'd be the only coach in the league who drives a Ford Lighting to work.

Great idea, Donnie Baker is available to relieve Reb Porter. I swear to God he is.

I agree but around this time last year Ken Berger of CBS Sports wrote an article about coaches on the hot seat and he had this to say about JOB

" Jim O'Brien, Indiana: He's not in trouble yet, and shouldn't be. The Pacers are still in the midst of a massive reinvention of their team. The last-second victory over the Lakers certainly helped. But it's worth remembering that the Pacers had a deal in place with lead assistant Dick Harter before they finalized O'Brien's hiring. That tells you everything you need to know about Larry Bird's priorities.

I'm sure Conner would get the job over anyone on the staff, but I always felt Burke would be a second option due to his coaching experience here.

Dick Harter was a good head coach in his past, but like you said he's too old to have all the head coaching pressure put back on him, especially when coaching a team like the Pacers.

Still don't think so. Tenure isn't always an ally.

Wait, does that mean a deal in place to be the head coach if something couldn't be worked out with O'Brien, or that he was going to be an assistant coach no matter who the head coach was?

I don't know, but I took it for the latter.

I think Bird should have to coach the rest of the season if O Brien is fired. Bird is almost as responsible for the current state of the Pacers as Obie. If this happens it also gives Bird a better chance to evaluate the current roster. He has coached before, and would be able to play who he wants and better evaluate the talent while they search for a coach in the summer who can come in and evaluate the team, pick his staff and make player changes if possible.

When half the roster doesn't care about winning, when being average or below average is all they have ever known in the NBA, what the hell can you even do? I'm not sure I blame Obie anymore, as much as I like to blame him, until we purge this team of what has become a losing culture, we will be stuck in neutral, and when I say losing culture, I'm looking squarely at Dun and Murph, I know some of you love them and honestly I think they could be ok players somewhere else, but these guys have never won, and never will as long as teams rely on them as much as we currently do.

I don't know what it means. It could go either way. On Harter that is.

I'm not sure changing half the roster every year is helping this team either. It sure doesn't help a team gel. It doesn't help connect with the casual fan. Quite frankly it doesnt help with me either. I have no connection to any of these players. Murphleavy are tied for the third longest Pacer tenure on this roster (after Jeff & Danny) then Diener. That's five and the other ten.....

six are in their first year
four are in their second year

The truth is that TPTB does not have the $$$ to throw around to get a name-brand Coach ( like Mitchell, JVG, etc. ) and some rookie Coach is not going to take on this Team without some commitment by Ownership to back him up completely ( given our current roster/SalaryCap situation ).

Tell me what Coaching Option is the cheapest Option and you'll know who will be the next Interim Coach is for the rest of the season.

This is David West, he is the Honey Badger, West just doesn't give a *****....he's pretty bad *ss cuz he has no regard for any other Player or Team whatsoever.

She'll show Stacy Patton about shooting all those 3s 5 seconds into the shot clock.

Against Miami, Tyler Hansbrough joined Magic Johnson and 15 other NBA players to score 10 points or more without a field goal.

The NBA record for scoring only from the free throw line is 15 points.

    I hope that helps.

The name Avery Johnson just popped into my head. He did a decent job with Dallas. I think he will bring a defensive intesity into the organization and he played with both Troy and Mike previosuly in Golden State, has coaching experience, and I think he would love to tutor a young PG in Price. Just a thought. Of course maybe you could hire Jerry West as the GM and let him make all the decisions. He seems like he does a good job with those.

"But, first, let us now praise famous moments, because something happened Tuesday night in Indianapolis that you can watch a lifetime’s worth of professional basketball and never see again. There was a brief, and very decisive, and altogether unprecedented, outburst of genuine officiating, and it was directed at the best player in the world, and that, my dear young person, simply is not done."
