Default NY Jets at Indianapolis Colts - 12-27-09 GAME THREAD

Not trying to step on Lord Helmet's toes but I didn't see a thread started yet and we're getting pretty close to the game. Anywho away we go...

14-0, coming off of their 14th straight win against the Jacksonville Jaguars
7-7, coming off of a heartbreaking loss to the Atlanta Falcons

All time head to head record: Colts 40, Jets 25

Lucas Oil Stadium, 4:15 PM EST

Commentators scheduled are Greg Gumble and Dan Dierdorf.

Peyton has already confirmed that he will play as long as the outcome is in question. The Jets playoff hopes are already slim but they are technically alive. If New England beats Jacksonville in the early game today, they clinch the AFC East and eliminate the Jets. By the time the Colts and Jets take the field for this strangely scheduled late game, the Jets will know whether they are alive or not. If they are not the only thing they have to play for is keeping the Colts from a perfect season. Either way I think the Colts are going to get the Jets best shot today.

The Jets will put Darelle Revis on Reggie Wayne. Revis has shut down every single receiver he has faced this year. Every one. He's having a once in a lifetime season. He's given up 3 TD's all year. The most receptions he's given up to one player is 5. Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Roddy White, Andre Johnson, Marques Coltson, Steve Smith, are all top flight receivers. He's faced them all this season, Moss and Owens twice, and they have a grand total of 24 catches and 1 touchdown against him. Unbelievable. Will Peyton and Reggie be able to change that?

    Let's go COLTS!!!

OK, the Jets are not eliminated. They needed three teams to lose, the Fins, the Jags, and the Ravens and all three did. If they win today, and then win again next week, they will get one of the wild card spots. The Colts will get a test here.

Man I love having McAfee on kickoffs. He gets a touchback WAY more often than the Colts have ever gotten them. That's two unreturnable kickoffs already today.

The Colts offense is gonna have to get it going because you can't expect the Jets to sit on 43 yards for the whole game.

The Jets were putting together a nice drive until someone whiffed on Freeney. FG coming up.

DWIGHT FREENEY!!! Made this game exciting again.
"I keep wondering the same thing. Last week they had the 4th worst record in the league, had an 11.9 percent chance of winning the lottery and were in line to land a franchise type player like Derrick Favors or DeMarcus Cousins. This week? They have a 1.7 percent chance of winning the lottery, have the 8th worst record and are in line to draft Cole Aldrich or Greg Monroe. Way to go Jim O'Brien. Rest Danny Granger the rest of the season (if it isn't too late) and give Josh McRoberts lots of minutes. That ought to do it." - Chad Ford on winning meaningless games

Way to go Jim, you may have just put our franchise back another 4+ years.

I told you above that Revis is good. Wayne has two catches. Reggie burned him for what would have been a TD though but Peyton overthrew him.

I don't think he's a candidate, I think he's all but locked it up. He covers the other teams #1 every game, and he's given up a TOTAL of 45 catched and three TD's. That's a season for the ages, not just a once in his lifetime season, it's once in OUR lifetimes. We may never see anything like it again.

Chad Painter loosening up. 15-1 if he actually plays.

This is an insult to the game. Knock these dorks out of the playoff race!

I remember Polian saying something on his show that we lost the divisional against Pittsburgh the year we should have won the Super Bowl solely because of Nick Harper's knee. He does not understand that it never should have gotten to that point.
