    Default Will there be a year?

    Will there be a year when Conseco consistently sells out for Pacers games? Will there be a time when you see Hibbert, Granger, Hansbrough, and Rush jerseys all over the place? Our attendence is so low it seems almost crazy that there are even 16,000 fans around the whole state. How in the world can we get a larger fanbase, and don't say winning because we won't be doing that for a while longer. I think we need some buzz around here to get to games. What do you think?
    "I keep wondering the same thing. Last week they had the 4th worst record in the league, had an 11.9 percent chance of winning the lottery and were in line to land a franchise type player like Derrick Favors or DeMarcus Cousins. This week? They have a 1.7 percent chance of winning the lottery, have the 8th worst record and are in line to draft Cole Aldrich or Greg Monroe. Way to go Jim O'Brien. Rest Danny Granger the rest of the season (if it isn't too late) and give Josh McRoberts lots of minutes. That ought to do it." - Chad Ford on winning meaningless games

    Way to go Jim, you may have just put our franchise back another 4+ years.

    Hansbrough needs to find a whole lot more missing puppies.
    And I won't be here to see the day
    It all dries up and blows away
    I'd hang around just to see
    But they never had much use for me

    Winning cures all.

    I'm 24 years old, been a Pacer fan my whole life. I can't afford to go to a whole lot of games. Bird has stated we are on a 3 year rebuilding plan, 2 more years to go...I'll start going to games again in 2 years or when they fire O'Brien. Why waste my money on a "rebuilding" project with no hope right now?

    I think the Colts are the worst thing to ever happen to indiana basketball. They are a winning team and have been for a while. It is something people can be happy about and not ashamed to cheer for.

    Same thing goes down here in Dallas. With the cowboys, and mavs no one really cared about the rangers until this late last year once they started to win.

    Its either going to take the pacers becoming a playoff team for a few years or the colts falling off the face of the earth IMHO

    Not until a trade happens that brings another all-star level player and some excitement for the future. Oh yeah, and winning

    I doubt that a trade for an all star happens. MAYBE we get one in free agency. THe best hope is that one of the kids grows into it, ala Danny.

    Reminds me of a Zager and Evans classic:

    I remember almost identical sentiment on the Colts board about 10 years ago.

    ... and it took the Colts many years of 1-3 win seasons and botched top-5 picks until they finally landed the player who'd bring 'em to the place you described in the first sentence...

    Conversely, I feel the Pacers have a much better chance of securing another All-Star through a trade than through FA. Remember, we have a lot of expiring contracts next season. Some team will probably be willing to jettison their All-Star for payroll relief. It happens all the time.

    This could turn the Pacers around in a hurry, IMO:

    1) Get a Top 5 draft pick, hopefully John Wall;
    2) Trade our expirings next season for another All-Star;
    3) Get a new (read: good) coach.

    Right now, we're well on our way to accomplishing all three of these things. This season is just a throw-away year.

    This season is a throw away year, hoping that Rush, Hibbert, Price, Hansbrough, Jones, and Josh get to play.

    the pacers need a star that people want to watch play...nobody want to pay money to see granger jack up 3s with 20 seconds left on the shot clock. plus, conseco isn't even the fieldhouse where the best basketball is being played. the pacers could learn a thing or two from watching butler.
