Default Bayless Wants Portland To Deal Him

Multiple sources told Dwight Jaynes over the weekend that Trail Blazers guard Jerryd Bayless has asked the team to trade him.

Portland might need another big man following Greg Oden's season-ending knee injury and Bayless might be the type of player that can get them one.

However, Jaynes points out that Blazers general manager Kevin Pritchard is usually adverse to in-season trades.

Theres no doubt that he is talented. Do you think the Pacers have any interest in reacquiring him? There were talks that he has some "attitude" issues, so that is something to keep in mind also
"So, which one of you guys is going to come in second?" - Larry Bird before the 3 point contest. He won.

We've seen what the choir boys can do. Maybe a little attitude would help things.

    We have nothing to offer.

Even if we did I'm not sure he is the answer to anything we need. Maybe as a back up to T.J. (let's face it he is not going to come here and start) and then is he really better than Watson at this point in time?

They can have McBob + a second round pick for him.

I would like it, but I don't think we'd have what Portland would be looking for. Unless after the Oden injury they'd want Foster or Murphy. However looking at their contracts, there's no way they could match salaries for Murphy. It would be difficult to even match Foster.

I'd like to see it, but I can't imagine how.

Not even for Diener or Price, in my opinion.

Bayless is similar to our early decade players from what little I have seen, and not what we are trying to accomplish going forward unless we are totally abandoning everything Bird has been trying mightily to accomplish.

they want a big man in return (due to Oden's injury) and I'm sure they're looking for someone with a short-term contract. Our big

    - Hibbert - no way we deal him
    - Murphy - possible, but we would want some others in return
    - Foster - I wouldnt mind, he is getting old (I know most will disagree)
    - S Jones - I dont mind Jones leaving if we get Bayless in return
    - McBOB - same reasoning as S Jones

The only deal I could see them doing is a Hibbert for Bayless swap, and even that's unlikely.

Neither Solomon Jones nor Josh McRoberts have any trade value other than as cap filler.

They're too far away from contending to want Foster. Not sure what Murphy does for them, or how they come up with the other 8-9mil.

I'd love to have him, but like everyone else has mentioned, I see no workable deal.

    Maybe a 3-way...?

He's young (21) and a talented scorer. My problem is his attitude (he was visibly upset with us drafting him) and his point guard skills.

Between his lack of playing time, questionable attitude, and the fact that he's asked to be dealt, his trade value has to be low. If Portland had short-term contract filler(s), I'd happily give them either Murphy or Foster for him. Hibbert is clearly more valuable, and I'd rather hang on to Hansbrough.

Why do people continually talk about trades that have either team taking back more players than they are trading when they already have 15 guaranteed contracts?

I'm tired of people talking about "attitude."

Wasn't Larry considered one of the BIGGEST TRASH TALKERS in the league....EVER.

Then the most recent pride and glory of Pacer basketball, Reggie Miller!!!!! There is a reason spike lee sent him black roses before knicks games....

Get over it, PLEASE! If you dont, we're never going to get players like Larry, Reggie, Kobe...... and the list goes on

    Winners have attitude.....losers play nice

This is why I like Dahntay Jones.

There are different types of "attitude.". Some are more acceptable than others.

We should have just drafted Bayless when we had the chance if we wanted him.

Plumlee reminds me of a young Dale Davis. Good rebounding and he contests shots well on defense and his offensive game is very raw just like DD's was coming out of college.

If we trade with Portland, let's get Andre Miller.

Even if Roy turned out to be the second coming of Ilgauskas, and Bayless turned out to be the second coming of KJ? Not likely comparisons, but I'm saying, even if that appeared to be lopsided at the time, wouldn't you at least give it a chance to play out?

    NOPE..

    I like Hibbert , and that's that ...

My stubborn mind is made up .. lol

Now if you said TJ for Bayless, cash considerations and a first round pick ..

that would be a different story ..

Bayless and 'Dre for Roy and Ford.

Really makes sense for both teams. We get a solid PG upgrade and a future scoring machine. We have room to draft one of the almighty bigs this year. They get an ideal backup or starter with potential in Roy and a scoring sixth man to pick up on Outlaw or Dre with Ford.
"I keep wondering the same thing. Last week they had the 4th worst record in the league, had an 11.9 percent chance of winning the lottery and were in line to land a franchise type player like Derrick Favors or DeMarcus Cousins. This week? They have a 1.7 percent chance of winning the lottery, have the 8th worst record and are in line to draft Cole Aldrich or Greg Monroe. Way to go Jim O'Brien. Rest Danny Granger the rest of the season (if it isn't too late) and give Josh McRoberts lots of minutes. That ought to do it." - Chad Ford on winning meaningless games

Way to go Jim, you may have just put our franchise back another 4+ years.

I don't really have any interest in Bayless. Every time I've seen him, his body language has been terrible and he seems pissed off. Oh yeah, and he isn't that good.

With all due respect you have no idea what you're talking about. Both of my roommates grew up with Bayless in Scottsdale, Arizona and he has always been a stand up citizen in his community and a really nice guy at the local gym. He held doors opens, talked to every little kid who wanted to talk to him and played team ball in pickup games. He plays hard and gets the game. He's simply frustrated that he's a talented guard on a guard-heavy team.

Please stop with all the character judging on this forum. It really gets old.
