Default Bayless Wants Portland To Deal Him

Multiple sources told Dwight Jaynes over the weekend that Trail Blazers guard Jerryd Bayless has asked the team to trade him.

Portland might need another big man following Greg Oden's season-ending knee injury and Bayless might be the type of player that can get them one.

However, Jaynes points out that Blazers general manager Kevin Pritchard is usually adverse to in-season trades.

Theres no doubt that he is talented. Do you think the Pacers have any interest in reacquiring him? There were talks that he has some "attitude" issues, so that is something to keep in mind also
"So, which one of you guys is going to come in second?" - Larry Bird before the 3 point contest. He won.

We've seen what the choir boys can do. Maybe a little attitude would help things.

    We have nothing to offer.

Even if we did I'm not sure he is the answer to anything we need. Maybe as a back up to T.J. (let's face it he is not going to come here and start) and then is he really better than Watson at this point in time?

Not even for Diener or Price, in my opinion.

Bayless is similar to our early decade players from what little I have seen, and not what we are trying to accomplish going forward unless we are totally abandoning everything Bird has been trying mightily to accomplish.

I don't know that I like his game more than Price's game for the Pacers.

Bayless - better handles, quicker, better scorer in traffic

Price - more mature, better awareness on offense, runs a team from the PG more, better defender (Bayless has zip for defense usually)

To me Bayless is to TJ what Price is to Watson. It's not quite the same, not quite as simple as "poor man's version with potential", but almost. I'm firmly in the Watson/Price camp vs a TJ/Bayless camp.

TJ is more talented than Watson, but when you see them play you can tell that Watson is better for the TEAM needs.

Then you have the Jackson/Artest/Harrington factor. He asked for a trade, therefore he's a scumbag jerk of a teammate and we have no interest in that kind of attitude. You want to win? You want to start? You want to play more? You want to be more involved in the offense? These all fall under the umbrella of things we hate about a player.*

*if we already hate the player that is, otherwise it's a sign of competitiveness.

They can have McBob + a second round pick for him.

I would like it, but I don't think we'd have what Portland would be looking for. Unless after the Oden injury they'd want Foster or Murphy. However looking at their contracts, there's no way they could match salaries for Murphy. It would be difficult to even match Foster.

I'd like to see it, but I can't imagine how.

they want a big man in return (due to Oden's injury) and I'm sure they're looking for someone with a short-term contract. Our big

    - Hibbert - no way we deal him
    - Murphy - possible, but we would want some others in return
    - Foster - I wouldnt mind, he is getting old (I know most will disagree)
    - S Jones - I dont mind Jones leaving if we get Bayless in return
    - McBOB - same reasoning as S Jones
"So, which one of you guys is going to come in second?" - Larry Bird before the 3 point contest. He won.

Why do people continually talk about trades that have either team taking back more players than they are trading when they already have 15 guaranteed contracts?

The only deal I could see them doing is a Hibbert for Bayless swap, and even that's unlikely.

Neither Solomon Jones nor Josh McRoberts have any trade value other than as cap filler.

They're too far away from contending to want Foster. Not sure what Murphy does for them, or how they come up with the other 8-9mil.

Plumlee reminds me of a young Dale Davis. Good rebounding and he contests shots well on defense and his offensive game is very raw just like DD's was coming out of college.

Even if Roy turned out to be the second coming of Ilgauskas, and Bayless turned out to be the second coming of KJ? Not likely comparisons, but I'm saying, even if that appeared to be lopsided at the time, wouldn't you at least give it a chance to play out?

    NOPE..

    I like Hibbert , and that's that ...

My stubborn mind is made up .. lol

Now if you said TJ for Bayless, cash considerations and a first round pick ..

that would be a different story ..

I'd love to have him, but like everyone else has mentioned, I see no workable deal.

    Maybe a 3-way...?

He's young (21) and a talented scorer. My problem is his attitude (he was visibly upset with us drafting him) and his point guard skills.

Between his lack of playing time, questionable attitude, and the fact that he's asked to be dealt, his trade value has to be low. If Portland had short-term contract filler(s), I'd happily give them either Murphy or Foster for him. Hibbert is clearly more valuable, and I'd rather hang on to Hansbrough.

I'm tired of people talking about "attitude."

Wasn't Larry considered one of the BIGGEST TRASH TALKERS in the league....EVER.

Then the most recent pride and glory of Pacer basketball, Reggie Miller!!!!! There is a reason spike lee sent him black roses before knicks games....

Get over it, PLEASE! If you dont, we're never going to get players like Larry, Reggie, Kobe...... and the list goes on

    Winners have attitude.....losers play nice

This is why I like Dahntay Jones.

There are different types of "attitude.". Some are more acceptable than others.

No, not even close. Where are you coming up with that? He was cocky to be sure, but not a trash talker.(with a few exceptions, as with most players that play 10+ years).

Then the most recent pride and glory of Pacer basketball, Reggie Miller!!!!! There is a reason spike lee sent him black roses before knicks games....

Yes, and the reason is because Miller threw daggers in them with regularity. But as in jump shots, not trash talking. He did, on occasion, but again, not even close to the REAL trash talkers.

Attitude (trash talking) has NOTHING to do with winning or losing.

Maybe, but it always seems like winners have that winning attitude that they are always better than everyone else!

Hence, they are trash talking about it

We should have just drafted Bayless when we had the chance if we wanted him.

If we trade with Portland, let's get Andre Miller.

Ya know what? There's this tiny part of me that's keeps thinking about that. They lose Oden for the season and could use a big man, but say they aren't thinking about it. (Yeah, because a lot of players can't be traded till Dec 15th anyways, so why tip your hand?)

The league and media pretty much knows we aren't happy with our PG play.

There are rumblings that Miller is on the block. Thing is, do the Blazers think they can make the playoffs led by Bayless and Blake?

If so, this seems to make a lot of sense:

    Successful Trade Scenario
    Congratulations on a successful trade.

Due to Indiana being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Indiana had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

    Trade ID
    Trade ID #5317326

    Incoming Players
    Andre Miller
    0-0 from
    11.0 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 4.6 apg in 27.0 minutes
    Outgoing Players
    Jeff Foster
6-11 C from Southwest Texas State
    3.3 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 1.4 apg in 17.1 minutes

Jeff's just got one year left on his contract, so that's appealing to them, but could we take on the rest of Andre's contract? Would we want to?

As to Bayless, I don't see him helping us, as has been said (Luther Head fills any role Bayless would have.) and I don't know what to think of him. I think his main deal is his ego. He's been stroked for his entire life and now he's not getting the limelight and I think it's grating on him. I don't dislike him and don't see him as a "head case", but I think he'll only thrive on a few teams. (Bayless reminds me of DeJuan Wagner, for some reason, in terms of possible impact.) I could see him working for the Knicks, Warriors, maybe the Wolves. Miami or the Rockets. Just not here.
Hey! What're you kicking me for? You want me to ask? All right, I'll ask! Ma'am, where do the high school girls hang out in this town?
