Thread: Ekpe Udoh making his second visit with the Pacers tomorrow...

  1. #1

Default Ekpe Udoh making his second visit with the Pacers tomorrow...

    Joining him will be:

Gavin Edwards (Connecticut), Tory Jackson (Notre Dame), Greg Monroe (Georgetown), Jerome Randle (Cal), Magnum Rolle (Louisiana Tech).

I'm excited to see Monroe...but he won't be available at #10 unless a miracle happens.

    Could be a smoke screen.

Teams wanting Udoh please call now.

Teams wanting Willie Warren at 40, please call now.

Well maybe the last one is a stretch, but it's possible with Udoh, I think.

I find it quite odd that Monroe is coming.

    Then there's this:

    From Draft Express Twitter:

Cause they may move up. RT @RyanSmurf: Why would Monroe waste his time in Indiana? No way he gets past Utah @ 9, if he even falls that far.
    From DraftExpress.com http://www.draftexpress.com/#ixzz0r9PNWyWN

Also, on the most recent DX podcast, Givony says that O'Connor of the Jazz loves Ed Davis.

    Then there is this:

"Indy could throw 1st big wrinkle in draft. They're high on Daniel Orton, according to a source. They've scheduled 2nd workout with him."

    via Mike Wells Twitter:

    http://twitter.com/Wells222

    And now this as well:

"Ed Davis coming in for a solo workout with Pacers on Sunday."

Why do the Pacers FO tease us like this?

There are so many rumors out there that I have no clue what they are going to do.

I mean....why work out someone a 2nd time if most indications are that we aren't going to keep the 10 spot anyway?

Excuse me while I bang my head against the wall...... I get less of a headache that way.

Maybe I'm wrong about us already having a deal done.

The Monroe workout says: "We may move up."

The Orton workout says: "We may move down."

Taken together, they say: "We don't really know what we want to do yet."

Orton doesn't appear to be a lottery pick...maybe we're working him out a 2nd time intending to trade down for him.

    or

More then likely....the Pacers FO is messin' with our heads when it comes to this draft. The Pacers are going to do this....nope? they're going to do that....nope? they're gonna do nothing and stay put at the 10 spot.....nope?

Maybe we're picking Orton for OKC, then trading him for later picks/Maynor?

Interesting... I thought his agent (Falk, I think?) wasn't allowing him to workout against anyone but Favors and Cousins (which is why he had a solo workout in Utah).

If as wells said, "The Pacers have talked to 20 teams"

We are looking at various options

For the first time I really believe Bird and Company are going to do something big, I think they realize another season like last year and there might not be any fans left

Bird I am going to put my faith ion you this draft. Its time to make your mark here. YOU CAN DO IT!!

I don't think we're going to do anything BIG. Two years ago we did both JO for TJ/Rasho/Roy and Bayless/Ike for Rush/Jack/McBeard. This year I think we'll do the equivalent of one of those.

Yep...and you know what's going to happen? We're gonna stay at the #10 spot and reach for Bledsoe or Bradley.

    Much ado about nothing IMHO.....

I'd put this in green font...but I'm only half joking

    Yeah I feel ya

More than any other year before I would be really really disappointed if we got the old tired "We looked at a lot of options, but at the end of the day, there wasn't any trade that would have benefited the Pacers to our liking"

    or similar statement

This just tells me they are pretty well committed to picking a PF or C...either at #10 or lower in the draft. I suspect this is what they are up to:

    1) They are trying to get a PG...the most talented PG they can find. The true starting calibre PG they have needed since Tinsley imploded. They will sacrifice the pick to do that...and if they trade down they will get the best PF on the board...even if it is a risky one (Orton).

    2) IF they cannot get a premium PG with the #10 and filler, they will draft the best available PF or C...and make some other trade to get another backup type PG ala Earl Watson. IOW, Udoh is their secondary target...and they are trying out numerous other PF's (e.g. Monroe, Patterson, Davis, etc.) so they know who to mark as the BPA because Udoh may very well be gone by the time they pick.

The Pacers know Monroe won't make it to them. Maybe they just want to see how Udoh does on defense against a top flight offensive big man.

I'm hoping his third visit to Indiana will be about a week from now.
