I don't see Bird firing his good friend. This is why I don't like what Larry Bird is doing. He keeps hiring friends as coach and then it becomes a tough decision to fire them.
    Err....

The dude he talked to once on the phone for the interview is his good friend??? He fired his friend (mistake) and hired the guy that would cause less problems and demand less money than they apparently felt SVG would cost them. The SVG thing went south and Bird looked around at the "who's available" list.

Yeah we need the link to Mr. Obvious's rather obvious article.
Obvious? Morway wasn't going to stay with the team the entire time, and at the start of the trip they were just going to settle up the rotation. If you mean by obviously a losing team might want to make changes, sure, but I think the article is making the point that the 1-10 outside the 5 game streak, especially to MANY bad teams, has clearly accelerated the Pacers interest in making an adjustment.

There is no way they would sit on their hands if they get another 1-9 in the next 10 games. The limit would be what that CAN do, not their desire to do something. And even then I think there are plenty of teams clearly not in the Lebron/Bosh running that might want some of that 2011 cap space or need a bump from either Troy or TJ to push to another level.

Remember that Troy and Dun are starting to become "final year" guys. If you trade for them now to get a bump and then it doesn't work out, you have a good chance to move them in the summer or during the next season since they will be expiring. So sure, teams that want cap space next summer have little interest, but there will be plenty of teams looking for financial relief in 2011 too.

That gives some of the better teams a level of comfort in taking on a deal with 1.5 years left. You can turn around and try again by moving them to a rebuilding team.

Thats exactly why one of them should have been traded on Draft night.
