I hope he can recover from this.. does anyone know about this injury?
Oh yuck. You can definitely see that the kneecap is broken when he's writhing around on the floor. Roy puts his hands on his head and some other guy (can't tell who) puts his hand over his mouth when he sees it. Man. I feel bad for the guy.

It's up on RealGm already that he's likely out for the season.
"Greg Oden will likely miss the season after fracturing his left patella during a game against Houston on Saturday night.
Oden will undergo surgery, the Trail Blazers said.
The game was stopped for some seven minutes after colliding with a driving Aaron Brooks midway through the first quarter. Oden was gently moved to a stretcher and wheeled from the court. He underwent an MRI shortly thereafter."
That was actually the height of my years at PD. If you reread that thread, I said we'd get both Travis Diener and Kareem Rush (for full disclosure, I also said Kapono was a possibility).
Also, that was the night the franchise was changed with one draft pick. The Pacers selected little known center from Croatia in the second round. Two years later, he's a little know center in Spain. One day soon, he'll be a little known center in Indiana. And rest will be history - in that no American outside of high school will remember it or give a **** about it.
By the way, Tau Ceramica is now Caja Laboral.

The International Keeper League is back! Visit the fantasy sub-forums for the details!
Gotta feel really bad for the guy already having to go through the Benjamin Button thing and all.
And of course KD is better. He's going to be (****, he almost already is) one of the best scorers of his generation.
You Got The Tony!!!!!!
I feel horrible for him .
Everything. If Oden hadn't missed his first year due to injury then I dare say he develops a lot faster then he did now. Same for the injuries in his second year and now this one.
I'm not saying he would have been better then Durant otherwise, but he would have been a lot closer then he is/was now IMHO.

Greg is a good friend of mine.
There couldn't be a better person. It's so sad that he may never realize his vast potential because he just can't stay healthy.
I always thought KD > Oden as a draft pick, but it's sad it's because the guy's body will never let him play a whole season.
We should get him and Andre if Portland is done w/ him. He is such a good guy.
"I keep wondering the same thing. Last week they had the 4th worst record in the league, had an 11.9 percent chance of winning the lottery and were in line to land a franchise type player like Derrick Favors or DeMarcus Cousins. This week? They have a 1.7 percent chance of winning the lottery, have the 8th worst record and are in line to draft Cole Aldrich or Greg Monroe. Way to go Jim O'Brien. Rest Danny Granger the rest of the season (if it isn't too late) and give Josh McRoberts lots of minutes. That ought to do it." - Chad Ford on winning meaningless games
Way to go Jim, you may have just put our franchise back another 4+ years.
I hate seeing potentially great players' careers cut short due to injuries.
Durant's +/- is terrible- he's a great player and a very good scorer, but there is no reason why his +/- is terrible when he's on the floor with the rest of their core and the rest of their core's +/- jumps way up when he's off the floor. Whatever you may say about him, something just isn't right here. He was slowly turning into the type of center you win championships with- 10/15/2.5-3 shooting .550
Portland made the right choice. You get into the playoffs and maybe the finals with Durant. You win championships with Oden.
Hindsight is 20/20. To anyone bashing Portland for picking Oden over Durant, remember that every other team in the league would have done the exact same thing. Every. Single. One.
I really, really feel bad for him. I hate injuries - if there was one thing I would cnage in sports if I could it would be to eliminate injuries.
Having said that and moving away from Oden and to a more general point. It is rather common for really big centers to be injury prone. Look at Yao, Look at Oden, looking back through the years, it is somewhat common. Please keep in mind I am talking about really big centers, Hakeem, Dwight Howard, david Robinson, Ewing - don't fall into this category. Shaq does, and he's had his share of injuries, but he is a freak of nature, so he IMo is the exception.
If I were a GM I would steer clear of big centers - too many injury risks. We'll see how Roy works out - I hope for the best, but I have real doubts
Guess getting that #1 pick isn't quite the guaranteed championship maker one might think.
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
Or throw in a first-round pick and flip it for a max-level point guard...
