We do it every year; Terry Mills, Carlos Rogers, Erick Strickland, Anthony Johnson. We never use the MLE, but who do you think we'll sign for the veteran minimum this year?

I'm thinking somebody like Scott Williams or Ryan Bowen.

Yeah, now that I think about it, it probably will be AJ. It's good to have one of these guys actually turn out to be worthwhile.

Assuming we already have and keep JJones, FJones, Brewer, Wright, Tinsley, I fail to see us signing AJ back on.

    We won't keep Brewer.

Yeah we aren't keeping Brewer. And even if we did I doubt they will want to go into the season without some kind of veteran on the bench there.

OK tell me WHY we are not keeping a guy that Artest called a monster on defense, costs next to nothing and develops happily along?

Why are you so sure, without seeing anything, that a 2nd rnd last draft pick is better then Brewer?

I'm sorry, but I kindly disagree here.

Everything I've heard about Wright says he's Brewer with more of a jumper, and more knowledgable on running a team. Brewer's obsolete.

Think it's just that he has been here three years with two different coaches and couldn't get anywhere near the rotation, just like to see someone else get a chance.

AJ will stay, and Brewer and Wright will battle for the last roster spot during training camp. Can't say who will win, because I've never seen Wright play.

seems he was closer to the rotation then we know, but let's not forget that he had AJ and Kenny in front of him last year.

And Hicks, last pick in the draft. the least he has to catch up to is the 3 years practising with the A team.

I am pretty sure he will be on the team in the end, as i posted elsewhere, we have only one roster spot left, which most likely will be a 4 or a 5 who can play 4 as well.

Even with Brewer and Wright signed we still have one roster spot open: see

I'd imagine AJ will be re-signed, if he is available for the vets minimum and the Pacers offer him several years with a players option.

By the way, the league pays two-thirds of the vet's salary, or so, and I don't believe that part of the salary counts for luxury tax reasons.

I'd like to see the Pacers find a way to dump Scot Pollard's contract and then sign free agent Michael Doleac. Doleac can shoot the rock and would be a great situational player for us.

I think Wright (and Harrison for that matter) fell to us because so many teams are banking on the potential (the P word) of foreigners and HSers. We let the more proven College people slide to us. I'm not going to hold Wright's draft # against him; just his play on the court. And what I'm hearing about his play, is he's not a typical last pick.

Carlise said if Brewer is re-signed that he will be aprat of the rotation.

I think that we will be after Derek Fisher, Travis Best, and Troy Hudson but he is a long shot because of the money he will demand.

    Edit: We could get Troy

Hudson because we can still use the MLE.
