    Default OT: JMV Leaves WNDE

    Thanks JMV..
Posted by Bill Radio On November - 25 - 2009ADD COMMENTS

By now many of you have heard that JMV has stepped away from the radio station to devote more time to his family and himself for a indefinite period of time. To say the last 5 years have been memorable would be an understatement. After taking over for Mark Patrick about 5 years ago, John started the DRIVE show with the intent on not just giving you talk on the Colts or Pacers , but on sports of all levels, and of things that he had a deep interest in, whether it be off the court or off the wall. And having been a part of his show directly or indirectly for these last 5 years, I can tell you that his show had no equal when it came to giving you great guests as well as a great voice for what you the listener had on your mind. J

John spared no punches and expected his listeners to do likewise when it came to what was on their minds. His love for sports on all levels showcased his likes for what was comfortable to him as a person who grew up in that environment.

Make no mistake John will be missed, and no matter what he does later down the road, his impact on WNDE and the DRIVE will long be remembered. Thanks for taking WNDE to a different level of sports talk JMV. Best of luck in the future with your family and to you.

On a personal note, I am very saddened by the news. While I am happy for JMV, in that he is doing whathe feels he needs to do, I am selfishly disappointed & will miss what he brought to local sports talk. Local sports lost a true friend today, & it saddens me to think that an outsider or yet another national show may take his spot on the airways.
I hope we can stay in touch w/ him here on PD, as I hope to still see him post from time to time. I will miss the local "on location" broadcasts, FFB drafts, & the occational Fan Forum Hooter lunch. Best of luck JMV!!!

That makes me quite sad. I loved JMV's show. Although this now makes the choice between listening to him or Derek Schultz a lot easier.

Thanks for the update. I heard a bit of Jimmy "Mad Dog" Matis hosting The Drive on Tuesday and assumed JMV was just out for the holiday week. Hope all is well with JMV.

Whoa... Didn't see this coming. I'll surely miss hearing JMV on 1260 considering that he's the guy that I listened to most of my time here in Indy from his time in the "Little Chair" on Mark Patrick's lame *** show to being the big fish in this little pond being Indy drive time sports talk.

Good luck taking care of "the head" and your family. I will miss listening to you.

Pretty bummed to hear this! I loved JMV's show and his take on sports and pop culture thrown in there too. I hope JMV returns and has a chance to spend time with his family and especially big head!

Ive never much carred a whole lot for his show. To me he kinda came across as Jim Rome lite.

But a lot of people did like his show so its a shame that they will miss him.

I don't really mind Kravits and White all that much what I dislike about Kravitz contrarian views and Whites wacky FM DJ antics I felt they made up for with the quality of their guests.

I miss Rakestraw being on air the most, personally.

Sad to see him leave because that other show is nearly unlistenable.
Wonder how much NDE was cutting his pay? Nobody "resigns" from their job at the start of the holiday season, especially given the fact he dominated the ratings game on a 5000 watt station.

I don't really value ESPN as the end all/be all, so a majority of 1070's guest really don't peak my interest considering it is like an ESPN conga line during Kravitz and Eddie.

Either I'm getting use to the Wacky FM Schtick of Eddie White, or he is doing it less often because my ears didn't bleed like usual while listening to them M-W this week. I may have to actually change my signature..... Maybe.

For everyone that's complaining about Kravitz and Eddie, you guys are aware there's another sports option in town besides 1070 and 1260 right?

I would hardly say he dominated the ratings. Of course, sports talk ratings are generally so low anyway.......and 5000 watts didn't get them very far.

I wonder if this is a precursor to a format change for the station?

hes affiliated with Hometown Sports or something like that, I think they have a television channel on one of the cable networks. They focus on Indiana High School sports

Maybe we will get lucky and he will take over for Kravitz and Eddie at the Fan.

Eddie needs to be behind the scenes. He's a rah, rah guy who knows a few people. If he never ends an interview with "You're the best!", I've never heard it. His constant fraternity boy ramblings tend to get so off topic it makes me hit the dial immediately. I've actually come to enjoy Kravitz's columns after listening to his straight side on the radio.
That said, I see bigger things for JMV than some local talk show that lost to Kravitz in the ratings just once and I've got to believe that WNDE is dropping out of the 3-6 time slot, possibly because of cost?
If I want rah rah, I'll watch the cheerleaders at the Colts/Pacers games!
