    Default How come the disclaimer?

How come the following just appeared?
An unofficial fan website. We are in no way affiliated with the NBA, the Indiana Pacers, or Pacers Sports & Entertainment.
And I won't be here to see the day
It all dries up and blows away
I'd hang around just to see
But they never had much use for me

You must have done something wrong. I don't see anything.

J/K. We used to say something like that at the bottom of each page. It disappeared I believe during software updates that reset parts of our templates. Along with putting it back up at all, I felt it was appropriate to make it more noticeable to help avoid any potential future trademark or brand issues.

    That opens the floor;

Would you want to be the "official" forum for the Pacers ?

Not sure that it matters, but you might be interested in knowing that the disclaimer doesn't appear on the mobile version.

I would vote no. Not that I have a vote or that one is even imminent. But I would imagine to be the OFFICIAL forum of the Pacers you'd have to give them some control over it and I like things the way they are.

Perhaps you could detail what 'official status' would entail? Advertising? New power structures? More features? Reliability? This would help in evaluating the pros and cons.

I am not sure how familiar all of you are with the Redskins, but www.extremeskins.com used to be a regular fan site, and then Dan Snyder wanted to get a forum but he did not want to have to build one from scratch. So instead he bought ES and made it the "official forum"

As far as I know they literally had to give up nothing to do it, but they do take a lot of flak (any time someone is banned they go off on a rant saying Snyder "controls" the mods)

I think it would be cool if the Pacers did make this their own forum, though I thought I read a while ago they already had a domain name that they purchased that they were going to turn into their own forum. If that is not the case, then I think it would be kind of cool.

    1. There is little to no chance the P#s can afford to buy the board out.
    2. We would never want someone else to run the show, if they buy it, they do.
    3. IF they did someone would start a pd2 under whatever name and be a pain in their butt
    4. it was a joke
    5. best solution in that case would be to designate the board as such and leave it alone
    6. Ok Herb can afford, so can Larry but it is my opinion they both would not want to fork over that kind of dosh
    7. And no i don't think it would ever be a public vote, Hicks' forum, he can decide and if it involves me in any way, then i asume i have some input but that be it :P

so nothing to see here, move on pls

Fair enough, I was just reporting what I had seen done

(FWIW I mis-spoke. The Redskins do not own ES. They just provide them with game passes and they get press releases with the rest of the media, etc.....)

I just thought of something. I would change my vote from no to HELL NO for this reason alone: If we were the OFFICAL forum of the Pacers, Kegboy's annual Official Hottest Pacemate poll would be a thing of the past. I don't think they'd go for that. Speaking of that, did that thread get lost in the crash or just not happen this year?
