Default Do any of you have netflix on demand?

It would be my luck that I would get really sick right when I get this new feature, but by using the respective netflix DVD I can stream any movie I want right on my TV.

I have only used it for one movie, Bedtime Stories, and I kind of liked it. The TV only froze once, which was a pleasant surprise.

I am kind of disappointed by the lack of movie choices, though I kind of made up for that by adding Law and Order season 1-10 to my list. I hope that the selection gets better as time goes on.

I've had it for a while. As long as the connection stays strong, I think it often looks pretty darn good. When the connection starts to fade, along with the quality drop, you start getting a lot of pauses/interruptions. But when it's working right, it's pretty nice. Too bad the selection isn't better.

I use it...a lot. It's handy. rcarey is right, they need more titles.

It's a shame that the PS3 users have to have a disc in the drive to stream movies. I'm keeping on using my Xbox 360 for streaming Netflix.

I use it fairly often through my TiVo and occasionally through my laptop. I've never had an issue with stuttering or freezing, but maybe I'm just lucky. Picture quality is generally pretty good. The selection isn't great, but it's come along way since it's inception. Plus, any service that has every episode of The Rockford Files is OK by me.

I've gotten the PS3 disc, but only popped it in long enough to activate it and see how the interface was.

I need to go see if they have one of my favorite titles available for streaming......

    Sweabs, yes it is me

I agree that it is a bit annoying having to keep the disk in my PS3. I never did the streaming thing on my laptop. I am not sure why, I guess part of the reason is because my laptop screen is small compared to my TV (42 inches)

MR, thanks for the laugh. I actually have taken a hiatus to acting and am currently interning/trying to get into the "talent agent" business (representing actors and performers)

Netflix "Watch Instantly" will grow considerably over the next few years. I can say that first hand.

    1. They've grown their Watch Instantly catalog considerably this year.
    2. They're one of a rare few companies in the business with growth (24% rev. increase last quarter).
    3. They are spending a lot of that extra revenue to acquire "larger" titles for Watch Instantly.
    4. Studios are looking for ways to recover from DVD sales drops (Blu-Ray isn't covering it).

Announcement isn't official, but it'll likely be available on Wii next year (definitely by 2011 when Wii HD is released).

Have you ever rented/purchased a movie/tv show from the PS3 store? Or anyone else?

I don't think I'm ready to be impressed by a list that features both Eating Out and it's groundbreaking sequel Eating Out 2: Sloppy Seconds in the new titles for the month.

No, why? I want to have the actual physical object in my hand if I purchase something. I want to know that I can do whatever I want with said object. Just because it's stored on my hard drive doesn't mean I own it. DRM is a b!tch.

Curiosity. PlayStation has been pushing their online store in the past six months and it seems to be growing. They've added it into their most recent commercials.

I don't know anyone that's downloaded/rented a movie from their store, but I want to know what the experience is like. Marlin codec (or any other DRM file) is a limitation of theirs.

I just got a 360 for XMas, and I have a question after reading The Toxic Avengers post in another thread.

Is there a difference between Netflix on demand for the XBOX vs PS3?

360 you need a gold live account and you stream it internally on the software there.

PS3 you don't need any account but Netflix has to send you a disc that you pop in when you want to stream (you get it like a normal dvd, but you never have to send it back).

The only reason I've read as to why the PS3 does it this way is because 360 has exclusivity rights for internally being able to stream movies from netflix. This ends soon and they'll probably update it to where you don't need the disc.

That's right. But it is kind of pointless to have an Xbox 360 without an Xbox LIVE Gold account...

To be honest with you, I've found it kind of daunting to have to keep putting a disc into my PS3 to watch streaming Netflix. That's why I just watch them all on my Xbox 360 until they work on that update.

I use it on my Xbox 360 nearly every day. I love it. I've never even ordered a disc and don't plan to. It's fully worth $8.99 a month in my opinion.

Yep. Brilliant move by SMSS and Netflix.
