I thought I read that in NCAA people thought he should pass out more. Personally I've never even suspected it comes from a selfish place. I think it's just something he needs to work on. Certainly he's not a naturally-born passer, but I'd be stunned if he's doing it to "get his".

Totally disagree. I've watched every minute he has played, and I think he's passed the ball too much.
It seems to me that when he gets the ball in the low post, he usually shoots it, and if he gets it up high early in the offensive set, he passes. When he gets it somewhere in between, it depends on whether or not the lane is clear. He has tried to take it to the hoop if he catches it facing the basket.

In any case, I don't see why some people are so low on him. He is productive for a rookie. I hope that he gets a little more elevation as he recovers from his injury, but regardless of that he needs to adjust his shot and release higher.

Come on now, clearly his presence has been felt and his energy/enthusiasm has been contagious. Yeah, other factors have been involved in this streak, but to dismiss his contributions as equal to you working at Kohl's is a bit much.

I couldn't agree more! I wasn't one who wanted Tyler as a draft pick, but I have to admit I like what I've seen so far from him. When he's in the game, I catch myself concentrating on his game.

Oh please to who alluded to Tyler as a 1 trick pony, you couldn't be further from the truth. The 1 trick pony on this team is Sir Foster, and he's in rapid decline. If Tyler progresses very quickly, Foster's best contribution to the Pacers this season will be in the form of trade bait.

I'd like to say something about when Troy, Mike and Jeff return.

We look really good now, but we're not going to be any worse once these guys are back. If anything we're going to improve by getting more offensive/defensive rebounds again and more shots.

True, and the other team will get more dunks.

I predicted 37 wins, but admittedly, that was pure speculation based more on the past few seasons and then just picking a number out of thin air. QUOTE]

If my understanding is correct, threads after 7/15 were lost. Since you make the annual prediction of wins thread, maybe you could/would start it again. With 7 games played and with a 4-3 record, it might be a good time to start one again to be able compare 09-10 end year wins with posters predictions.

Once everyone is health i see Hibbert, Murphy, Granger, Dunleavy, and Ford starting with D Jones and Rush getting 20-24 minutes a game, Tyler will rotate with Hibbert and Murph at the big with Granger rotating to the 4 depending on the matchups. Watson will get the majority of the minutes behind TJ. Foster will get 10-12 minutes a game, (I don't believe his back will let him play more). That's a 10 man rotation that will allow us to wear down a lot of teams especally in the 2nd half of the season. We will also be able to sit any of the starters that are having a bad game or when the matchups are not good for them. I'm really feeling quite good about this team!

Don't mess with a winning streak. If Murphy is healthy, bring him off the bench.

I don't think I'd expect Jones to give up his starting job anytime soon. I'm optimistic that Mike will come back and play well, but I'm settling with Dahntay. He deserves it.

I'm going to add on to what you're saying. I believe Solomon is going to get more minutes than Jeff will behind Roy.

If we're looking to start Dahntay at SG and have a SG rotation of Jones/Rush/Head then this would mean that Mike is Danny's backup at SF.

To the PGs. Earl is probably going to share equal minutes with Ford and Ford is still starting. There's no need to put both of them out at the same time with all of our SG options. Price will get some minutes here and there and Travis is just there.

The PF position won't change. Troy will still play more minutes than Tyler will, but not much more. Josh is good to have as 3rd string and again he won't get very many minutes.

To sum it up, this is the rotation that may be used at times.

    PG Ford/Watson/Price/Diener
    SG DJones/Rush/Head
    SF Granger/Dunleavy
    PFMurphy/Hansbrough/McRoberts
    C Hibbert/SJones/Foster

It also depends on who we play.

Very good rotation. Gives us a balance between our starters and bench players. It's small, but it has been proven that it gets us wins. 4 in a row as a matter of fact.

Here's what happens. Troy checks in for Brandon then the lineup moves down with him at PF. Mike comes in for Dahntay at SG. The other subs are pretty straight forward.

You really think that Bird is going to allow O'Brien to take Tyler out of the rotation altogether?

    I was thinking the same.

Just to start the game. My idea of a perfect depth chart, assuming Dunleavy returns to his old form

    Watson/Ford/Head
    Jones/Rush/Head/Granger/Dunleavy
    Dunleavy/Granger/Jones/Rush
    Granger/Murphy/Hansbourgh/Foster
    Hibbert/Solo/Foster

No McBob or Price, they would be inactive with Diener. Jones, Rush, Murphy would get about 30 minutes. The rest would be divided. Mike would give us a boost offensively over Murphy. Murphy's a nice player, but doesn't need to start on this roster when he could get better served starters minutes off the bench.

If Dunleavy does poorly, then give rush the two and Jones the three.

Some time ago Bird said that he felt the NBA was becoming a league where you need long athletic swing men that can play multiple positions to compete. It seemed he tried to buuild that, but it back fired in the form of Shawne Williams and James White. Now, it seems by accident that he has built a solid foundation for that very thing. Or, not?

Are you sure you are not thinking of Walsh?????

I may be wrong here but I don't remember ever hearing Larry make that statement, Walsh on the other hand sure did.

Isn't that what Isiah tried to implement with the infamous "Quick"?

My bad. Forgot about Tyler (and I'm a fan of his).

    Watson/Ford
    Rush/Dunleavy/Jones
    Jones/Granger/Dunleavey
    Granger/Murphy/Hansbrough
    Hibbert/Foster/Jones

If Hans continues to improve, Murph may lose several minutes.

Again....this boils down to "Is O'Brien really going to expand his rotation to 9 or 10 Players or not?"

It's a happy "problem" to say the least.....I just hope that JO'B really uses the quality depth that we have....or at least recognizes that the Offense/Defense that he employs works much better with a more athletic lineup....or at least the most athletic Frontcourt that we can muster.

+1... best likely prediction I've seen for the rotation depth chart once all are healthy.

We also haven't lost since the Kohl's I work at started playing Christmas music. Just because two things are happening at the same time doesn't mean it's because of one thing that the other is happening. Now Bro Hands has played better than I expected, but he isn't the main reason we've been winning.
Great post, I think we're jumping too much because of a 4 game win streak-just like it was too early to call it after 3 games, it's too early to call it after 7.

    edit:

    I think this is relevant:
    Wells222

    O'Brien on if he'll start Murphy when he's healthy: "It’s tough to go away from a group that’s 4-0." Pacers are 4-0 w/o T-Murph

I'd like to see this rotation for a while:

    PF- Granger/Murphy/Hansbrough
    C - Hibbert/Murphy/Foster/Jones

    - Salman Rushdie
