Default Pacers 100-1 to win next years NBA championship.

Updated odds to win 2010 championship following Draft, trades

Bodog's odds to win the 2009-10 NBA Championship have been reassessed and posted following last week's NBA Draft and trade activity. Unsurprisingly, the Shaquille O'Neal(notes)-to-Cleveland, Vince Carter(notes)-to-Orlando and Richard Jefferson(notes)-to-San Antonio deals have altered a few of the favorites' lines.

Some notes, courtesy of Jimmy Shapiro, comparing the updated odds to ones released June 15th:

    * Cleveland went from 3/1 to 9/4
    * L.A. Lakers fell from 2/1 to 9/4
    * San Antonio sky rocked from 16/1 to 11/1
    * Orlando jumped a bit from 15/2 to 6/1
    * Boston dipped slightly from 9/2 to 5/1

Interestingly, the Rockets still remain at 15/1 odds despite Yao's foot scare.

After the jump, the complete list of all the team's odds to win the '09-10 Larry O'Brien.

Odds to win 2010 NBA Championship:
    Cleveland Cavaliers (9/4)
    Los Angeles Lakers (9/4)
    Boston Celtics (5/1)
    Orlando Magic (6/1)
    San Antonio Spurs (11/1)
    Denver Nuggets (13/1)
    Houston Rockets (15/1)
    Portland Trail Blazers (18/1)
    Utah Jazz (20/1)
    Dallas Mavericks (40/1)
    New Orleans Hornets (40/1)
    Detroit Pistons (45/1)
    Atlanta Hawks (50/1)
    Chicago Bulls (50/1)
    Miami Heat (50/1)
    Phoenix Suns (50/1)
    Philadelphia 76ers (60/1)
    New Jersey Nets (75/1)
    New York Knicks (75/1)
    Washington Wizards (75/1)
    Charlotte Bobcats (100/1)
    Golden State Warriors (100/1)
    Indiana Pacers (100/1)
    Los Angeles Clippers (100/1)
    Oklahoma City Thunder (100/1)
    Sacramento Kings (100/1)
    Toronto Raptors (100/1)
    Milwaukee Bucks (125/1)
    Minnesota Timberwolves (125/1)
    Memphis Grizzlies (150/1)
    -----------------------------------

Those were the odds . . . now with Artest committing to the Lake Show I would guess they are back out in front by themselves again.

What I find shocking is the Knicks have better odds than we do, and gambler's usually know what they are doing.
They must be hedging their bet that the Knicks will do something big because no way do I see them finishing in front of the Pacers.

Well, one assumes they're projecting a healthy Curry & Gallinari plus the fact that none of our projected starters (assuming Gallinari starts at SF) will be older than 26 and should improve along with the second year of playing under D'Antoni's system. I'm not sure I buy it myself but I can see the reasoning.

I suppose I could add Milicic but I don't think the oddsmakers are THAT foolish.

We lose Lee though and I guarantee those odds will change.

Ouch. Only the Twolves, Grizzlies and Bucks have worse odds of winning.

I like that Dallas bet. 40-1? That's too low. I'd put 100 down on that. That's going to be down to at least 20-1 by the end of the summer.

If I was a gambling man, I would put some money down on Boston.
    That'll do.

They probably just left out our other "0".

I'd put some $$$ on the Blazers. I think that they will make some huge moves soon....enough to get them into the 2nd round. From there...it's a crap shoot.

I've always place my bets on the Teams that have alot of Cap space that are in a Playoff position...or Teams that I know are trying to make a last ditch Playoff Push. Last season, I had the Cavs at 15 to 1 odds...but this was before they made a move on MoWill.

Another bet that I was considering this last weekend ( I was up in Reno ) was putting a small bet on the Clips. I know that they were going to make some huge trade before the trade deadline to move either Camby or Kaman. I didn't figure that they would move ZBo so soon. I suspect that they will still do something this season with the TPE they have.

The Cavs were an EXCELLENT bet last year. IIRC, the over/under was 47.5! Haha.

However, I don't think they'll move Camby or use the TPE. I think they're going to be players in 2010. Try to lure a marquee FA with LA, BD, Gordon, Thornton and Griffin.

A healthy Boston and a healthy San Antonio could challenge, but outside of those two and the Lakers and Cavs, I don't see anyone else having enough to win it next year. Some of the other teams will be good and have good odds (Orlando, Denver, Portland) but I don't see them as being able to run the table and win it all. Second place or worse won't make you amy money here.

I'll take that bet. 100 to win 1, no problem. Make it 10000 to win 100 then.

Actually no, better off with something like a 6 month CD. If only I could sell short on Pacers tickets right now.

Yeah Seth, you better lock in those pre-season rates because they will be giving them away if the team is looking at another 36 win season. Just make sure you discount your current price to be able to cover prices at the very end of the year.

The Knicks aren't as big of a payoff just because they are a recognizable big-market team. A lot of casual fans will put action on them just for the hell of it so Vegas adjusts accordingly.

I'll probably hedge a $5 bet...just for kicks...on the Clips just in case some deal comes a long this season.

With Hedo signing with the Blazers....I'm gonna put $20 on them. I don't think they are done making moves this season.

The usual suspects are out in front, no surprises here.
