    Default Lin Dunn?

Is she the kind of head coach that will be with us after this season?

Would either Gary Kloppenburg or Jim Lewis make a better head coach? Possibly someone else.

Do you think firing Brian Winters was a mistake?

To sum it all up I'd say give Dunn one more season and see what this year will bring.

You could put any name in there and the answer would be yes. Rocky and Bullwinkle? Yes. My gym teacher from 7th grade? Yes. Any poster on this board? Yes. A monkey that can rub two sticks together? Yes. You get the idea. She's beyond awful.

Firing Brian Winters was the single worst decision in franchise history followed closely by hiring Lin Dunn. Next in line was not firing her during the Olympic break last year.

The firing of Brian Winters should have never been Dunn.

Anyone know why Coach Winters was let go? That never did make sense to me. I guess I could understand being upset with Winters not getting the job done, but to hire Linn Dunn didn't rectify why you'd fire B. Winters.

I'm really looking forward to seeing more than a couple of games and understanding why the dislike for Coach Dunn. With so few televised games, even attending an occasional game didn't let me see anything consistently wrong in the past.

I think it came down to TPTB thought we should have made it to the finals so they decided to get a new coach. Honestly I think they thought they could get someone better than one of their own assistants, but for some reason no one wanted the job so they gave it to her. OTOH if they had her in mind all along I think they should all be fired.

I also think that maybe they thought that since she used to coach at Purdue she'd draw fans to the game. However, they forgot to take into account why she doesn't coach at Purdue any longer. For the life of me I can't convince Kegboy to go to a game now and it's all because of her.

Winters at least deserves another shot at being coach of a WNBA team.

Would he want to come back to the Fever again?

Does Kegboy ever go outside anymore?

He marched in the 500 parade with the Purdue Alumni Band. I'm sure he'd be glad to point himself out to anyone who has tape of Channel 8's coverage instead of Versus (who only showed one old guy instead of the rest of the band). The next time he'll be seen in public is in the fall when the Alumni Band performs at homecoming.

I think he thinks his coolness would be diminished by too much exposure. Just think of him as this generation's Howard Hughes.

He probably misses being a head coach and especially the Fever. He showed a lot of passion for what he did with the Fever. Dunn is a good coach but not for the Indiana Fever.

Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

I actually think either Jay DeFruscio or Frank Vogel would make good head coaches for the Fever.

They can't be worse than Dunn.

Lin Dunn is not a good coach for anything. Maybe for the white 'fros.

Hopefully last night did it for you. Man she needs to be gone.

    Big mistake hiring her.

I doubt that they'll can Dunn (and have to pay the remainder of her contract) and bring in another coach when the possibility exists that this is the last year of the Fever/WNBA.

    Just ride it out.

Would an NBA assistant be a good option as head coach of the Fever?

Hell yes. Ron Rothstein did the best coaching job I ever saw in the WNBA. But considering that WNBA head coaches now routinely leave for NBA assistant jobs, I don't see it happening.

They have to pay her no matter what. I'm sure Mel Daniels or Sam Perkins would be happy to coach out the year (again, not uncommon for a random front office guy to do such a thing.)

So, from a limited perspective of seeing two whole games:

    1) Defense - one bad night, one good one. Can't call this on the coach right now either way.

    2) Offense - I understand where people are coming from here, it is sloppy and stagnant and nobody moves without the ball. Spacing is terrible. I haven't noticed Dunn actually calling plays, maybe this is a matter of a team wanting to control their own on-court play but not having the fundamental play structure to do so? If so, coach should be setting this in practice, but my understanding is that WNBA is even more practice-challenged than the NBA.

    3) Timeouts - I think they could have been used a lot better against the Lynx but I thought they were better handled against the Storm. Jury still out here.

    4) Lineup and Substitutions - I thought Coach Dunn did fine here on both nights, though I wasn't so sure about the decision so start Briann January in the Minnesota game. That was changed and helped a lot against Seattle. Substitutions seemed proper, though I'm not clear on matchups in the WNBA as yet. Obviously, every matchup looked awful on Sunday but I really think we were looking at a team completely run ragged after the 2OT vs. Atlanta.

Verdict so far - not feelin' the love yet, but not feelin' the hate either.
