Default Brandon Rush for MIP 2010

I think it would be cool and not out of the question if he continues to progress as he did at the end of this year!

He plays next season like he did at the end of this season there is no doubt that he certainly will be the leading candidate.

Man I am stoked about Granger and Rush.

This has the potential of being the best combo of wing players we have ever had.

I hope he is a candidate, but on principles I sorta hope he doesn't win. I didn't think Kevin Durant should win it this year for the same reason. It should go to a player that's been in the league 3-4 years at the very least.

What do you think is his natural progression for year two? Averages of 15/6/3?

They've got a long, long way before they compete with Reggie and Jalen.

They are already a better defensive combo than Jalen and Reggie right now.

However, I won't argue with you because Reggie played with lots and lots of veteran savyness that you can't get from being in the league for 3-4 years and Jalen could play defense when he wanted to. That was probably the most frustrating thing about him was that he could defend, he just chose not to care about it often enough.

Call me back when they both go off for 40 in a playoff game.

Nope, I'm with you. Rush will never be Jalen Rose on offense, but then Jalen was never Brandon Rush on defense.

I can believe they'd become the best two-way combo of wing players, if Danny improves his defense and Rush improves his offense.

    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. All I want is a trip to the Finals. Then we can compare.

Lets not get too ahead of ourselves- he needs to prove that his burst is just not an anomaly.

    Yeah, that's definitely true.

On the other hand, it's what I was saying about Danny last year.

Brandon would have to average 16-20 points a game to even be considered. Possible but unlikely. Would be cool to see. In his defense, Brandon does alot of other things, so 20 points should be enough. That's no biggie at all.

Yeah, I have to admit to being REALLY positive about the future of our SF and SG positions. I was all for Bayless and was really dissappointed we traded him away and still felt like it was a mistake until somewhere in march, but I have to admit that I'm impressed with how Rush has developed during his rookie campaign and if he can keep on the right track both on and off the court then he really has been a great pick by Larry and I'm not even factoring in getting Jack and McBob into the deal that brought him in yet.

There's no question in general the Pacers are on the right track, but let's hope we can continue that and Larry & Co. keep that going and add the players we need most.

What makes you think he can't average 16-20 points? He certainly has the talent, he just needs to gain confidence.

The problem with Rush being most improved would be the same as it was for Durant this year. Rookie's are expected to improve so their improvement doesn't impress a lot of people.

I would actually love to see Danny win it back to back.

Brandon Rush: My end of season burst of good play- anomaly or trend of good things to come?

No one has ever won it back to back. I do not think Danny could win it, even if he scored like he did this year and played like Battier in all other areas.

Reggie and Chuck would have been better, but Chuck got chased out of town before they reached their potential.

I think Brandon Rush has more potential than any Pacer. I won't be surprised when he passes Danny up in 2011-2012. But no player should get the award in their second season in my mind. That included Kevin Durant this past year who made a huge leap in my opinion.

A 2nd year player should rarely ever win the MIP player award. A 2nd year player would have to have a extraordinary improvement to even be considered for MIP, IMO. In general rookies should significantly improve in their 2nd season as a natural progression.

Someone showing a large improvement in their 3rd, 4th year and beyond is what's really impressive and award worthy.

What if the MIP for 2010 turns out to be......TJ Ford? He's been in the league for 4 years, and didn't JOB say that he expects Ford to flourish in his system once he gets used to it? Anyway, it would be SO nice if it's a Pacer again.

I just hope we are the most improved team next season. (though I'd gladly take any individual awards along with it.)
