Peck? Is that a serious option?
Welcome to Pacers Digest! New around here? Here are three tips for making the forum a great place to talk about Pacers basketball.

    • Log in. Even if you want to read instead of post, it's helpful because it lets you:
    • Change your signature options. You can hide all signatures by choosing "Settings" (top right) then "General Settings" (middle left) and unchecking the box "Show Signatures" (in the "Thread Display Options" area).
    • Create an ignore list. I know it may seem unneighborly. But you're here to talk about the Pacers, not argue with someone who's just looking for an argument. Most of the regular users on here make use (at least occasionally) of the "Ignore" feature. Just go to "Settings" -> "Edit Ignore List" and add the names.

    Enjoy your time at PD!

I nominated him but its pretty clear that Duke will win in a landslide.

Peck went out of his way to be as positive as he could all season. Sometimes thru clentched teeth but still.... I thought the effort deserved mention.

Since Tbird and MR have awards named after them I think when Duke wins this year the sunshine award should be named after him.

What does Sunshiner of the Year even mean?
"So, which one of you guys is going to come in second?" - Larry Bird before the 3 point contest. He won.

    This one goes to Duke.

I don't see MillerTime could be considered a sunshiner if he wants us to make quite a few moves in the offseason.

To me, this award is for the person that "shows optimism in spite of the facts and circumstances." Converseley, the darksider is the person that "shows pessimism in spite of the facts and circumstances."

Taken to its extreme, it can be the "cheerleader" with no credibility or the "doomsdayer" with no credibility. Usually, those are acts (like IndyToad, back in the day).

I don't see how Peck is on this list.

I'm probably not voting in this one. When I see sun-shiny posts for a 36-win team, I generally just roll my eyes and move on, so I have no idea which Sunshiner is better than any of the others.

Till to the music we grow deaf, to God's beauty blind
Why do the things that connect us slowly pull us apart?
Till we fall away in our own darkness, a stranger to our own hearts
And life itself, rushing over me
Life itself, the wind in black elms,
Life itself in your heart and in your eyes, I can't make it without you

It can be those things, but it can also be someone who looks at the facts and sees the silver lining (Sunshiner) versus the one who looks at the facts and sees the cloud (Darksider). They're both "right", but they're both interpretting the facts in different ways.

Which is why I voted for Peck... props to Jose for nomming him. Peck had a great year. I remember an unusual amount of posts from him that did a great job of analyzing the facts at hand before showing how things were possibly on the up and up.

Those sound like "moderate" to me. And that's why I'll probably write in a vote for Peck in that category, but not this one.

My apologies to Dukie but I think Millertime is more sunshiney so I'm voting for him.

Nuntius was right. I was wrong. Frank Vogel has retained his job.

    Well, see...

The thing about me is that anything is possible until I am proven otherwise. For instance, this year I believed we could make the playoffs. Each day until we were "officially" out of it. When I say officially I mean a news source or standings, whatever.

Yeah, I have some sort of blind optimism, and a lot of times I set myself up for disappointment because of that. The bright side is (no pun intended) that it gives me something to look for. It gives me something to think about. I just never rule out the possibilities.

By no means does reality escape my mind. It's still there. Within that reality is a silver lining, somewhere...somehow.
