    Default Wacky trade idea #I'veLostCount

    Reading today's Insider on New Yawk, it said Isiah wants to get rid of Mutumbo and a high-priced guy like Hardaway. I have to admit it's dicey; a risk. But my line of thinking in this is we trade both of our bad contracts for bad contracts what should actually play more and fill more needs, and their contracts expire sooner than ours.

    Indiana trades: C Scot Pollard (1.7 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 0.2 apg in 11.1 minutes)
    PF Al Harrington (13.3 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.7 apg in 30.9 minutes)
    PF Austin Croshere (5.0 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 0.7 apg in 13.7 minutes)
    Indiana receives: PG Frank Williams (3.9 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 2.2 apg in 12.8 minutes)
    C Dikembe Mutombo (5.6 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 0.4 apg in 23.0 minutes)
    SG Anfernee Hardaway (9.2 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2.3 apg in 27.6 minutes)
    Change in team outlook: -1.3 ppg, -0.8 rpg, and +2.3 apg.

    New York trades: PG Frank Williams (3.9 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 2.2 apg in 12.8 minutes)
    C Dikembe Mutombo (5.6 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 0.4 apg in 23.0 minutes)
    SG Anfernee Hardaway (9.2 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2.3 apg in 27.6 minutes)
    New York receives: C Scot Pollard (1.7 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 0.2 apg in 61 games)
    PF Al Harrington (13.3 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.7 apg in 79 games)
    PF Austin Croshere (5.0 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 0.7 apg in 77 games)
    Change in team outlook: +1.3 ppg, +0.8 rpg, and -2.3 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

    The sticky part is Al, but I needed him for salary and the fact that otherwise we're making off like bandits (Pollard and Cro for Deke and even a shell-Penny? Still a rip-off).

    So Al it was, since he wants out anyway and I think he'd start in NY. (Assuming Isiah thinks he's better than Tim Thomas, which I'd like to think).

    If you hate that, I tried another one I think is more fair.

    We get Kurt Thomas to thicken the front line, but we lose Bender too.

    Indiana trades: Bender, Croshere, Harrington, Pollard
    New York trades: Hardaway, Mutumbo, K.Thomas, Williams.

    So again, wacky, but I'd think it's in the realm of fairness because Isiah gets Al and JB to hope they become stars with, and we trade them + two bad contracts of players who either don't play or modestly play, for two that can if we need them to. The only problem I'd have is we don't get a young two guard.

    But in the meantime:

    Tinsley/Williams/Wright
    Miller/Hardaway/Jones
    Artest/Jones (Hardaway could also fill time here)
    O'Neal/Thomas
    Foster/Mutumbo

    I don't think that's that bad. We get a nice frontcourt with Thomas and Mutumbo backing up who we have, we have Hardaway as a bench scorer from the 2 spot, or he can play 3 and Fred can play 2.

    I'm not totally sure. If it's not quite good, I think I was in the ball park with this one. But then that's why I decided to put the "Wacky trade idea" label on it. Just had the time and thought I could put 2 and 2 together after reading the Knick article.

    Fire away.

    No way I make any deal with Isiah. Even one that may help our team. Period.

    And none of those help us at all, IMO.

    And Hicks, that was trade suggestion #837382266374789878738.
    Two=the number 2
    Too=means "also"
    To=many definitions-also known as the one to use when the other 2 (two, too) do not apply.

    Their=shows ownership-'it is their house'
    They're=they are
    There=many definitions-also known as the one to use when the other 2 (their, they're) do not apply

    Sorry but it bugs me when these are used incorrectly when I read posts on PacersDigest.com.

    I think its extremely creative and I think NY would do it. It doesn't blow up the Pacer core and I do think it adds a bit to the team.

    If it doesn't help the Pacers are left with substantially less to trade (Al) but they get cap space earlier.

    Very creative.

    Mutombo's there as a decent backup C and for cap relief - his deal runs out next year.

    Hardaway's not done offesnively. The man isn't as explosive but he can still put the ball in the basket. His problem's that he can't defend SG's any more - his lateral movement's shot.

    Frank Williams, OTOH, is a better backup PG than AJ. Believe it or not, he could challenge Tinsley to start. He's not so quick but he's a penetrater, knows how to pass, and is a solid defender and very, very strong.

    Plus after 2005, when Penny's deal runs out, you get mega-cap relief.

    I think its a good trade. We might be able to get more value for Al but i think this is realistic and will help in the long run.

    Trading for cap relief isn't really the best way to fill holes. The Pacers have desirable players to trade, we dont NEED to trade Cro and Pollard. If a deal comes along where salaries need to be matched and way can use them as filler then great, but i wouldn't want to trade away all just to gain a year of extra cap relief so we can fill holes then.

    EXACTLY! I can't BELIEVE some here are talking about cap relief in 2 years WHEN WE WERE JUST POINTS AWAY FROM THE FINALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    ULESS you have a deal that improves this team THIS SEASON, forget it.............

    So wait you want to trade Cro to Isiah's team? Man I like the guy too much to do that to him.

    I thought this does both. Gives us legit depth in the front court, keeps Artest, and add Hardaway for guard scoring. Add future capspace to that, and I feel it's a fair deal...

    Just anything that has to do with the Yankees or the Knicks. I still like you, though.s:

    If Isiah was the GM of the Raptors I would say deal with him but he isnt. He is the GM of the Knicks.

    You people take this rivalry thing to ridiculous levels. You all know how I've felt about the Lakers since 2000, but if we made a trade with them to make our team better, I'm OK with that.

    I wouldn't mind trading with the Knicks or Lakers, as long as we rip them off horribly.

    Actually to be honest, I'd make pretty much any trade with any team, if it would make us better. This one is pretty interesting [and unual.... wacky, even], but I'd prefer young guys we can plug into our pre-existing nucleus, rather than older guys. Not rookies or inexperienced players, but players who will be effective for 5-10 more years.
