    third weigh in - 203lbs

gained 3lbs from the previous week?!? I've intensified my workout and pretty much stuck it out with my diet...i can't really eat any less than this...i'm barely reaching 1500cals a day...sure muscle weighs more than fat but i seriously doubt that i managed to gain 3lbs of muscle from my gym session in one week.

    172 flat.

Getting ready to leave town again - nothing but catered food and sitting in a chair for 2 months. This will be the big test f'sho.

Serious question, but is it normal for me to be fluctuating 8-10lbs of weight each day? After a huge dinner and protein shake, I'll be where I want to be at ~195lbs, but by the next day I'll be somewhere in the range of 186lbs. I have eliminated all dairy from my diet for the last 5-6 months, and don't eat any junk to speak of. I also work-out at the gym 4 times/week with weights, and go for 1 hour - 1.5 hour jogs each day.

I used to competitively swim for 8 years at a high level (i.e. practice 9 times/week) and also played AAA soccer...so I'm starting to wonder if my metabolism is set to be too crazy. Ideally, I'd just like to be able to hover around the 195-200 mark without having to worry about constantly jumping down.

do you weigh in during the same time of each day?
you can't weigh in yourself after eating food - it needs to be processed in your body first to find out just how much you actually gained.

EDIT: this might give you an idea....

Before radically altering your diet, I recommend you get a new digital scale, and make sure that scale is placed firmly on an even, hard surface.

All people fluctuate throughout the day depending on dehydration, expulsion, etc. We are lightest after we use the bathroom in the morning and heaviest after dinner at night.

Weigh yourself at the same time under the same conditions with the same quality scale every day and then see where you are.

down 5lb from last week...8lb overall....think last week's result was a bit wrong due to too much salt intake or something though...happy to have gotten below the 200 mark...gotta keep it up!

Totally forgot about the weigh in this morning. I'll get down to the scale here at work sometime this morning. Honesly, I'm not expecting anything. I've maintained my routine but, our anniversary was Saturday and we went to The Cheesecake Factory so....

174.8. The return to office boredom and catering is killing me.

Gotta find ways to slip into the gym.

I'm going the wrong way. I knew the general inactivity would do this, but still it's a bummer. I did make to the gym once last week. Hope to hit it twice this week, then with any luck 3-4 times after that.

Thanks for the information. I was not weighing myself at the same time in the situation I described...I just was interested in seeing how much I would fluctuate between that "best" time and "worst" time - and was surprised at how much it was.

Anyway, I'm now just weighing myself each day after dinner and am still managing to maintain a weight of 195.2 - 195.6 which I am pretty happy with.

    No change. Still at 316.

I think it's time to reduce my intake and increase my cardio work.

I think it's great y'all are making an effort to lose weight and get in better shape. You guys are awesome!

If I'd caught this thread earlier, I might've joined you guys. As it is, I'm down to 129.5 lbs from an all-time high of 150 late last year. Aiming for 115 or lower. I'm curious to know what that'll look like. Mostly, I just want to be healthier to keep my diabetes in check.

    Good luck guys!

I'm guessing we'll likely have a fall edition. It costs nothing to join.

    Current weigh in = 172.4

I feel like a hamster on a wheel. Going nowhere fast.

    194.9.

Yes, I've gained almost 5 pounds. What? That wasn't the point?

However, I was cleared last week for mild exercise. Actually, I was cleared for just about anything, as long as it's within my capabilities and that I "don't do something stupid.".

I'm still pretty weak - I can't even lift my right heel off of the ground when standing on one foot. But I rode my bike for 15 minutes or so yesterday - 3 or 4 miles. And I lifted weights this morning. I've spotted y'all about a 5 week head start. I'm going to have to really get control of my diet. Those 5 pounds will drop off pretty quick. If I can make 185 by July 1st, I'll be pretty happy.
