I have a question. Let's say I drew Helio in my family's racing pool. Perhaps I won $20. Would I have to claim it on my federal taxes?

This is a complicated question. Will this be a deferred payment?

I'm sure since you have gone public the IRS will be contacting you to answer your questions. Just hope for federal prosecutors to handle it.

What happened to the Versus pre-race coverage? I kept looking for it right up to race time and didn't see anything

I'm afraid for the broadcast coverage, at least of the Indy 500, the prerace stuff goes to ABC/ESPN. Probably the same for Milwaukee (which I believe is ABC/ESPN as well). I know it's short-sighted and selfish of me but I already can say I personally would just prefer the races to be on Versus. Obviously, from a sponsor and even fan point of view (especially casual fans), having it broadcast over the air is the best... but the quality of production is won by Versus by so far it isn't even a fair fight.

Maybe it's time to see the race move from ABC to one of the other networks? Maybe work a deal where they just pick up the Versus coverage so everything remains consistent.

Good thing for Paul. I hope for a good recovery for Vitor. He seems like a nice guy. Kind of hard to believe he has never won a race in 97 starts.

I'll answer your question for $20. Don't worry, it's deductible.

Castroneves' pass for the lead on lap 142 was the 1000th lead change in 500 history.

I heard this was being discussed. I wonder what this means for the two Canadian races he was to run with his 500 team? Will he still run them with KV or will he run them with Foyt now?

EDIT: It sounds like this is just a one race deal right now so my question is moot.

    Foyt and Tracy....
This could be interesting. ...And two guys that if they don't kill each other first are probably going to find they are more alike than they'd like to think.

Wow, it looks like Tony George has had his wings clipped big time.

Yeah, huge bombshell. I'm sure hoping this puts IMS let alone American Open Wheel racing back in the right direction.

Maybe I'm just imagining it, but I thought George's demeanor was bizarre during that interview.

I think something is up at 16th and Georgetown

Maybe Mary (it's your birth name Mari, use it) wants to turn the track into dog racing. Well probably not but she is a little senile. Rumor has it she has two rooms set aside in her home just for her greyhounds and apparently they are allowed to leave dogs messes. Guess if you got the bucks you can hire someone to be pooper scoopers.

Say what you want about Tony but he did a lot of good things. By keeping the IRL afloat it is where it is today - gaining steam. He made racing more affordable. The Speedway is an absolutely beautiful venue.

The telling comment in the story was "they (the George family) were worried about running out of money."

This could well turn out to be a giant cluster F. Watch out CIB, they might come a knockin'.

Not to mention the Brickyard 400. It's nice to be able to be able to enjoy the beautiful venue more than once a year.

You would think that the local media would know that if the rumor comes from Robin Miller there's a 99% chance that it's not true. Rather than rushing over to the speedway and making a big deal about nothing just call Tony George or any other board member and ask if it's true. Instead of interrupting Young and the Restless they could have just done a news break and said "Robin Miller is still a bitter insane old man."

Absolutely. Don't know how I missed that. Another kudo for telling Bernie Ecclestone to stuff it.

Not to doubt you, I just don't know the story of Robin Miller other than the fact that he worked for the Star years ago. Could you explain why you say he is bitter?
