    Default slience..

man....the drop off in news after the draft kills me...

what is everyone expecting at this point? Not what you would do if you were LB /DW, but what do you reasonably expect from them?

i guess most of that starts with ron artest...how many people think he'll be back next year?

tinsley? what is all the talk about LB wanting a new PG about?

foster at C? or will someone else be brought in?

Who will we trade Al fo?

    What will reggie's role be?

What do we expect of JB and Fred if they are still on the team?

Fred is going to be the man. That's all there is to it.
Don't ask Marvin Harrison what he did during the bye week. "Batman never told where the Bat Cave is," he explained.

That is a lot of questions, most of which I don't have any answers to.

News will pick up a little around on July 1st, or I should say rumors, because nothing can get done until July 14th or 15th. So we'll have 2 weeks of rumors.

Question: can trades not involving free agents be made prior to July 14th or 15th?

I'll try to answer a few of your questions. Everything I have read indicates that the Pacers will be very active. Now that does not mean that any trades will be made, if they don't find a trade to their liking, why change for change sake, Pacers did win 61 games.

I don't know if Ron will be back next season.

The rumors that Bird is looking for a point guard is confusing. Not sure those are true.

Pacers might bring in another center, but I doubt that Foster will be replaced.

I'm beginning to think that we will be very active in the free agent market (Dampier, Stephen Jackson) and not so much in the trade market.

I agree that rumors will kick in high gear on Thursday.

I think the Pacers will wait & wait & wait until all the expensive top level free agents decide where they want to go.

Then if there is a 2nd tier guy that wants to play here for the vetarans minimum we will have another player.

If, & that is a big if. If there is a trade it will appear on the surface to be a one sided deal.

Kind of like most people thought when we traded Detlef for McKey, or Dale for O'Neal. It might look crazy at first but it will improve the team.

I kind of expect Harrington and filler to be traded for a shooting guard. And I have a weird feeling that harrison will be the filler.

I don't expect Ron to be traded, cause really who could we get back for equal value?

The point guard talk is either a smokescreen or Tinsley's injuries are more severe than we previously thought.

I still expect Reggie to be a starter but have a reduced role and play less minutes.

If JB and Freddie are healthy I expect for them to step up and have a pretty good season. If Al is traded I expect for one of them to become our sixthman. Or maybe that'll be Harrison's role if he stays.

I don't expect for us to be big in the free agent market. No one wants to come to Indiana. If we get anyone I expect for it to be done by trades over free agency.

Well we will have the Mid-level exception - about $5.5 Million
We should also have a veteran's minimum - $1.1 million?

And then there is the sign-and-trade possibilities.

I think that the vet minimum was used on AJ last year.

I'd kinda like to see the Pacers get Blount with the MLE.

if we were able to pick up blount, would you have him start? or have foster start and blount come off of the bench?

i personally like foster as a starting center...he does exactly what he needs to do with this team...defense and rebound..and come up with garbage points...one thing that is also overlooked is his ability to finish on the run....

i dont know if foster would be as effective coming off of the bench..though he is a "high-energy" player, the fact that he is less assertive means he blends in well with the starters, offensively. You want a guy coming off of the bench to change the game offensively or defensively.....
does foster do that? he does demand extra attention on the boards...and gets second chances as well as anyone in the league...but im not sure how big an IMPACT player he is.

    any ideas?

    i love the guy

The Fiesty One makes a big difference. He is an underrated one-on-one defender and surprises opponents by his hustle and aggressiveness. When he comes into the game, he immediately goes to work. He's an impact player; if proof of that is needed, look back to the couple possessions before Reggie's big 3 in game one of the ECF this year.

Just read Chad Ford of ESPN Insider. 20 teams are interested in Adonal Foyle.

If the Pacers loose Ron and AL I hope they go after Brian Cardinel

    yeah
i dont know what the hell i was trying to say there...

when jeff comes in...whether as a starter or off the bench he brings defense, rebounding and hustle...

what could change a game more...?

i dont know much about brian cardinal...

what would he bring? is he starter material? or off the bench?

All I remember is that he played very well last year. I think he would better off the bench.

He would come off the bench. He gets hurt a lot because he plays so hard, but he has an offensive game, a good shooter, and he gets to the free throw line a lot. But he is good for about 20 minutes per game.

Mid level exception, and sign and trades. Plus we have Brezacs exception of 1 1/2 million or so.

I don't think we'll end up doing anything drastic but our team will be better next year. And that'll be hard to do with a sixty one win team. Although i predict we won't win as many games but we will win the finals. I'm gonna put that in the told you so thread.
